    Hi all,

I just got my 61p yesterday, its pretty good upto now. However i had couple of issues with the case and wanted to see if these are normal ?

    a) I notice quite a bit flex in the case above the dvd drive. The case/body is rigid everywhere but above the DVD drive i can like get a lot of flex when I press . Is this normal ?

    b) Also towards the front of case ( on each side just below the keyboard) there are two hinges kinda things (some protruding things) what are those ?

    c) Also i notice quite a bit of flex on the bottom right hand side of the case...is that normal too ?

This is my first thinkpad so I am a bit anxious to see if these are normal ?

    Thanks in advance

I got mine too. There is definitely some flex on the plastic parts of the laptop, but not large flexes on the laptop as a whole. I have flex on the left side of my palm rest, it is actually a creaking sound.

I think a little flex on the plastic is probably normal. As long as the structure underneath is sturdy you should be good to go. ;)

This is my first thinkpad as well, so these are just my feeling/impressions.

There's a tiny bit on my T61 near the DVD drive and right palm rest area, but very minimal and you actually have to push hard, I don't notice it during normal usage.

My T61 feels solid in normal usage. Some of the plastics can be moved, however overall the plastics over magnesium skeleton construction seems to make for an extremely solid piece of hardware.
