Like title says, I am doing some cleanup on my laptop by deleting some files I don't need / use and backing what I do want up to an external. I finish this and am using Syncplicity to transfer a couple new files over to the T61P from my desktop when all of the sudden I hear this awful grinding crunching noise coming from the lower left corner of my laptop, right where the main HDD is, it did this for about 6 seconds and then stopped :(.

It still appears to be working, I am downloading Hitachi's diagnostic tools right now to run on it.

Try pulling out the HD and putting it back in?

I left out a somewhat important note, it's not still doing this, just did it for a couple seconds, six or so.

I don't know if this applies to the T61 series but I had this problem after a clean install of XP on my X200 and fixed it by installing the Intel Matrix Storage Manager (didn't come up in System Update).
