I had a conversation with a very knowledgeable Lenovo rep. . He told me that T61p release date is July 10 with 4th of July sales and they want to be prepared for a very smooth shipping for T61p .

He told me the display options would be
    1-WUXGA 1920*1200
    2-WSXGA
and video card is Quadro FX 570M 256MB

I told him about why Lenovo doesn't check very popular websites like us to see what people are thinking about them and they asked me about our website address , as i told him they can get very good feedback and even they can answer to a lot of questions here .
I notified him about lots of WUXGA display requests for T61P and he said he will inform his supervisor about that so they have enough display ready and avoid any display shortage and any delays

Yay, another date! So no 4:3 T61p is on the scheduled release? I'm not too worried, your source was a Lenovo rep after all (probably here in the USA). Now if your source was a Lenovo rep from China then I'd be concerned.

Did he say if the T61p will have a centered screen or not?

Yes he is in the USA but he told me that the problem with T61p release date is that they want to resolve T61 shipping problems first and get back to 1-2 weeks shipping , their problem is with the component in assembly line and they are doing their best to be ready for T61p and have enough components on hand . i am sure if Lenovo resolve T61 problems now they will release T61p right away but i think they feel they can resolve all those issues and ensure a ready line for T61p by July 10 , I am not sure with one problem in hand they want to add a new one with release of T61p.
And I think starting today they may read this site because they asked for our website address , they already know they lost some good customers to others like Dell because of T61 delay and are not happy with it . and i hope at least they join our website and have someone answer to our questions because I am sure if we know what is the problem we will understand and wait and no one likes to be kept in the dark.
He told me T61p won't have camera yet

    So the scary thing is......

Will fat wallet and tailor made both expire 6/30, and we'll have no opportunity to use those on T61p??? ><

What discount does fatwallet and tailormade give? I'm more worried about the expiration of the 25% off deal.

I can't believe anyone is worried about any of that....

    Lenovo always has a "sale"

Fatwallet and tailormade always has a deal.

Between all three the total will always average out +/-5% or so from the last deals.

I'm not worried about it, I just want to know how much I can save from it. I thought tailormade was an american express thing in which case I don't have an american express card so oh well. But what is fatwallet and how much of a savings is there?

The expected delivery date of my order is mid August. I wonder whether I can still get the 5% back if the tailormade reward is gone at that time. :-(

Well I emailed Lenovo UK and asked when it would be launched and the sales rep reckoned mid July, so they all seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet. Did look at a Z61P but will hold fire for this model instead. Can't wait to get Gentoo on it :D

So are the T61P's going to have backlit lcd for both wuxga and wsxga or do we still not know. If the wsxga has backlit, I am sold. If not, I'll just keep waiting.

Based on a Lenovo rep I spoke with a few days ago, T61 15.4 with discrete Nvidia cards will be out this Tuesday (June 26). These will include the option for quadro fx 570m and WSXGA+ displays. WUXGA will not be available until sometime in July.

Does anyone know if T61P's screen (14.1 or 15.4) going to be off centered too?

I'm sure the T61p will have the same chassis as the T61. So, yes the 14.1" will be off center and from what I can tell on the 15.4" model the screen will be less off center.

I had the same thing happen with an HP rep. I asked her when their new HP models would be out and without even an umm she said "monday". I said "this coming monday as in next week?" she said "yes". That was two weeks ago. Did it happen? No.

Anyway T61p on the 26th would be sweet. But I'd be more than happy with just the 140M in the 15.4" :). Like it should have been 24 days ago wehn they released 15.4".
