The T61P is only available with the WUXGA option, but it has the FX 570M graphics that I would prefer.

The T61 is available with the WSXGA+ option, but only has the NVS 140M.

Ideally I want the WSXGA+ with the 570M graphics, but that is not an option (today anyway).

I think the WUXGA would be a little much for data analysis/word processing/websurfing, but to be honest I haven't ever seen the WUXGA on a 15" screen in person.

I guess I'll just get the T61 WSXGA+ and the 140M graphics unless someone can convince me that there isn't much difference between WSXGA+ and WUXGA.

Oh... also. I've heard in one of the threads that all of the WUXGA screens are made by Samsung so that brought up another concern.

You could just wait a bit for them to come out with a T61p WSXGA+, unless you absolutely need to buy now, or you're sure they won't ever come out with that option.

What is the downside to WUXGA besides a higher res? Couldn't you scale down the resolution in your settings?

ugh.... yeah, I considered that, but I've been waiting for about three months for the T61P (or T61 15.4" with nVidia graphics). I don't know if I can wait any longer. Especially when I don't even know that it will ever be available.

Have you had any experience with the WUXGA and text?

Yes, but at a loss of quality. Displays look best in their native resolution (even though Vista has improved that some).

I think they will eventually release the T61p with WSXGA+. This option is available on competitive models such as the Dell Precision M4300.

I think on a 15.4" screen WUXGA is great for CAD and Photoshop use, but too small for me for reading text. The WSXGA+ on my 15.4" T60p is perfect in my opinion.

If you really don't want to wait for the WSXGA+ T61p to come out and aren't hung up on having the latest and greatest, the T60p might fit your needs.

Oh and go for the P, you can always change your resolution, and that doesnt' really mess up word processing. you can only get the better video card right now.

I have a T42p and a A31p with 15" 1600x1200 flexview screens. They work great. You always run the screen at its native resolution for the best results. For larger text you simply adjust the DPI in your display settings. You can have large text with a high resolution screen.

The only problem I have is there is one website that I visit frequently and the text on it is tiny and it won't display at the same dpi as the programs and windows text on my display.

I have been considering buying one the wide screen 15.4" WUXGA screens vs the SVGA+ also. Not sure which one I would chose yet. If I go with one of the HP notebook 17" screens I don't think the 1900x1200 res would bother me at all.
