    Hi Folks

I've been waiting for a while now to pick up a T61P but haven't gotten around to it yet due to the customization that I want is over my budget. The main reason is the RAM.

I would like to know how much RAM would be recommended for the T61P and what type of RAM for a casual modern gamer like me? (I don't game much but I plan on doing so :) )

Also I have no idea what good prices are and where to buy in Canada.

If anyone could make any recommendations on which specific type of RAM is needed for the T61P and where to buy it, that would be excellent

    Thanks a bunch
    Jimmy

    Any 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300 or 5400) will fit into the T61p.

I'm not sure if Newegg ships to Canada or not but they have great RAM Deals there.

Or you can look at the RAM Deals list here on NBR.

    Arkit3kt@ Thanks

I was told that laptop RAM is very specific and you can't just use any RAM available and stick it in. Was told that it can fry my system? When it comes to hardware I'm very clueless I'm only good as using a PC lol.

I've read a lot about speed and latency (spelling). Even if it fits I've heard that it using bad RAM will cause crashes, freezing and errors etc.

So what your saying is if it fits, then its alright?

I tried ordering from Newegg before, believe they only ship domesticly.

    Thanks for responding

Prices from NCIX and TigerDirect seem to be nearly in line with those in the US, only a bit higher. I just checked NCIX and the cheapest they have is a 2GB stick for $40 after MIR; TigerDirect has an OCZ stick for $46 after MIR.

I don't live in Canada anymore so I've fallen out a bit. Those two sites were the first to pop up in my head.

    Newegg is a US-only site.

If it fits, then it should work fine. Unless the memory is bad (you can check by running MemTest), it'll function properly.

chubby thanks for the info.. I'll take a look at tigerdirect again.

But last I checked other products like MicroSD, Laptop coputers were really priced high compared to US prices.

So I never bothered to check with RAM I will do so now though.

    Thanks for replying

NCIX is the place to go. TigerDirect is evil. And you can indeed use any DDR2 SODIMM that fits. They say you need specific ram because they want to sell you their RAM that costs 3 times as much as it should.

I'd say NCIX. Good prices good shipping. Get stuff from across Canada in a couple of days. If you get the Crucial memory, you get a discount on it now as well.

NCIX, canadacomputers.com and infonec.com are good places to check for Canadian buyers. I got mine from infonec.
