    Hey guys,
I'm getting temps of up to 95°C under load (just full screen Hulu, which is not even 100% load) with my T61p (C2D T7300).

I have to override the BIOS fan settings with tpfancontrol and set it to Fan 64 which is maximum speed to bring it back down to around 82°C under load.

I realize this is not normal, I just got my system board changed today, the guy didn't even clean off the old thermal paste or anything when he placed the heatsink back on, which is odd.

(Also, this is my 2nd system board in 2 years, anyone know why they keep failing lemme know)

Should I go ahead and call Lenovo in for a warranty repair, or just open the laptop, clean the heatsink and reapply thermal paste PROPERLY and not just glob it on there like toothpaste like my previous tech did.

Do you guys think Lenovo/IBM on-site techs know how to re-apply thermal paste and fix the prob? or should I just do it myself and reapply the paste.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    jayzala

this is not normal, i think you should it back for repair.

They can't reapply the thermal paste as such, they will just change the heatsink and fan.

Just bought some generic thermal paste and reapplied it. Max temp under load is now 75, an amazing 20 degree Celsius drop! Everyone should reapply their thermal paste correctly!

that is fine if you don't have warranty, but for people whom have warranty, this may not be the smartest move, as applying your own thermal paste may potentially void the warranty on the laptop.
