Hi,
I have an issue here that's been bugging me.
There are some classic computer games out there that I'd like to get. The problem is they were made for 4:3 screens and I have a widescreen T61p. Is there a solution hardware or software wise that let's me play these games with black bars on the sides so they stay in that 4:3 perspective and not stretch?
From experience, most games stretch out to fill your screen which makes them look very unnatural. I'd like to view them as they were intended to be viewed.![]()

I've never tried this (don't play too many games) but in the Nvidia control panel you can specify the proper scaling(change flat panel scaling) and set it to "Use Nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio" and 4:3 games should remain 4:3 with black bars on both sides.

Age of Empires 2 the Conquerors man ... I still play that game, what, 10 years or so

The NVIDIA control panel should have a feature to overide the resolution of the display.
You can choose to fill the whole screen or go 4:3 and lose some of your screen. -
It's working. 'Use NVIDIA scaling with fixed-aspect ratio' is indeed what you select in the control panel.
Thanks!
