So while installing my 1GB Intel Turbo Memory Module I noticed that I have another spare slot:

A little flick through the Hardware Maintenance Manual indicates that this slot is for Wireless USB Adapter. From what I can see the FRU numbers that I need are:

42T0885 Mini PCI Express UWB Ultra Wide Band (Wireless USB) Adapter
    93P4520 UWB antenna assembly

Anything else to consider? Does this module have a status light (i.e. the status light bars on the right hand side below the LCD monitor - will I need to replace those with a set with the status light for this module?)?

For a bit of extra fun I thought I'd install the 42X3919 SIM card slot as well (yes I realise it will do nothing since I don't have the rest of the WWAN hardware, but it's a start).

Skip it, not worth the money. Yes there's a status light, and it requires an antenna (as you know). If you buy it, it will likely never be used.

"Slow progress in UWB standards development, high cost of initial implementations and performance significantly lower than initially expected are some of the reasons for the limited success of UWB in consumer products, which caused several UWB vendors to cease operations during 2008 and 2009" -wiki

Do you know if it's just a matter of changine the plate in front (i.e. is the LED behind it already fitted there) or does the actual LED have to be fitted? Any idea where I could find the FRU for the status lights (Hardware Maintenance Manual says 42W3658 but doesn't have seperate FRU's for Bluetooth, WWAN, WUSB etc.)?

According to the Hardware Maintenance Manual, the Bluetooth and WUSB status lights are in the same spot (how this works I'm not sure):

that's right, forgot about it being in the same place as the bluetooth. Don't worry about changing it.

(although I still say don't bother buying one the card.
