Keep reading all those complaints about the screen quality on T61p, and I got a question. If the LG and Samsung LCD panels aren't that great is it possible to use a diffrent brand? Who makes absolutely the best 15.4 WSXGA+ ???
Can it be swapped? Or other brands LCD will not be compatible with Lenovo?

I think swapping the LCD avoids warranty, so it's not a great idea to start with. Lenovo will not install the LCD brand you want, they will give you what they have/want.
I've seen many bad reports about Samsung LCDs, which makes me think that you should hope for a LG.

I don't know. I have literally read hundreds of post all over the web about the T61's screen. Some people say it is not good and some say it is. Looks like the ones people are getting recently seem pretty good, at least from the pictures I have seen. Check out joooooeee(sp?)'s post. He has picture of his WSXGA+ screen, looks pretty good to me. I am hoping it will be nice since I will be getting a T61 soon. once I do I will make sure to post a review with a lot of pics.

I am pretty sure that you can swap panels, of course I'm pretty sure that is a complicated process that you shouldn't rush through. I have read people who have swapped their WSXGA LCDs on T60s... I dont know about the situation for the T61s...

Swapping is possible, no one is arguing that, but it will avoid warranty (if not done by Lenovo).

Yes, I realized that swapping an lcd would void the warranty. However, I only have a 1-year warranty and I don't have the accident damage protection, so I wanted to know if I could use a better quality/brighter panel in the event if something happens. My laptop should arrive sometime this or next week and I keep fingers crossed it would not have a less than average quality screen. So if I had to change it, what brand will be the best? I thought about Sony, but I want it to be antireflective and I don't know if sony supplies it.

If you really want to swap screens check out screentek. They have all kinds of options. I have not tried them personally, but there is one member here who swears by them but refuses to provide pictures :p

WUXGA resolution is too high for me, harder to read texts, plus I prefer to play games in a screen's native resolution and WUXGA would be handled with less frames per second speed.

I heard that the WUXGA panel is really dim. Is this correct?

I wouldn't say my LG WUXGA panel is dim. It might not be the brightest one out there but it is bright enough for my purposes. A few video trailers I tried in HD look GOOD!
