Give it another day or so. It takes that long for the system to update. Basically when you get the official shipping confirmation, you can do a parts lookup.
-
I got an email yesterday saying that it shipped and a tracking # today. It doesn't show that its been shipped yet, but the billing information was sent to UPS. And I got an invoice today from Lenovo.

-
Usually you get two emails when a system ships, "Electronic Receipt for Invoice" and then a "LENOVO shipment confirmation" a couple of hours later. Soon after I got the Lenovo shipment confirmation, I was able to do a parts lookup. You probably can check within a few hours or so.
-
How are you guys doing your parts lookups? I got an email "LENOVO shipment confirmation xxxxx" but I don't have a tracking number yet. How do I look up parts? What webpage are you using and how does it tie it to your order? My order status page doesn't appear to tell me serial numbers etc.
-
I got both of those and can't do the lookup. Is the "type" the 6459 for T61p, right? -
yeah and you need that and the serial# on the order status page which should appear on that page some odd hours (maybe 12, give or take 2 hrs) after the first indication that its been shipped
-
ordered 9/24, shipped 9/27

Its finally working. Looks like I got an LG screen and Chicony keyboard
-
Ship date 9/28/07
Screen: LG-Phillips! WOOHOO!
Unfortunately, I got the Chicony keyboard though
Is the Chicony keyboard really that bad, or is it still better than most laptop keyboards?
I am currently using an Acer keyboard and I'm really not happy with that keyboard... -
Ordered: 9/2/2007
Shipped: 9/29/2007
It looks like my laptop has shipped with the LG-Philliips lcd! Like the previous post, I also am receiving the Chicony keyboard. Can't wait!! -
Well, whichever keyboard I had in mine was loud as hell. Louder than my cheap desktop keyboard.
-
Got my computer and can't see any flaws with the WSXGA+ LCD panel. Everything looks great.
-
kyla: good to hear... so the colors on your panel look normal to you?
-
Yes, but I need to get some pictures loaded on to really test the colors.
-
Well I got my T61P today! (and yes, it is a T61p as it turns out)
I have the matte WSXGA+ screen, the LG one.
First thing I noticed, after looking really carefully, is that I have ZERO dead or stuck pixels! Woohoo!
I dunno what you guys are talking about, this thing looks AWESOME! It is not as bright as my Dad's HP but the colors look really nice and it is very sharp. I am really happy with this display!
I love the keyboard too, it blows away all other laptop keyboards I have tried. I also love the little pointer nub on the keyboard, so nice! I have always hated the touch pads.
I am extremely happy with my T61P, IN YOUR FACE to all you haters! This thing is cooler than I even hoped it would be....
and so fast too... T7800 2.6 ghz dual core goodness... -
I'm glad to hear you guys have a great display because it makes me hope that mine has an issue and replacing it would fix the problem (vs. = the screen is like this on all T61P's). If you haven't checked my pictures, see http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=173721. I'd be curious to see you load a colorful landscape on your old notebook and the new T61P to compare what you have.
-
Sure I can do some side by side comparison pics, I'm reloading vista right now on my T61 but after I'm done I'll try to get you some pics.
Maybe you're just a lot more picky about displays than I am? -
FYI my screen magically got brighter after I used it for a while!
Maybe it needed to warm up, or burn in, or something but it's quite bright now!
I'm so happy I got lucky and got a good screen! -
I can't complain about brightness, I have more than I need and rarely need to be at max. It's the color depth and reproduction that's the main issue. Everything is very washed out, you can barely tell green from dark grey. (except on external monitor, which now works well)
-
-
cccoltsicehockey: first, make sure you contact Lenovo support to let them know. The more they hear it the more they can fix it. I am starting to think it is to a good extend, a bad Nvidia driver. After trying many drivers I found this one to work for me (particularly it enables color vibrance, which is disabled on stupid Lenovo stock driver). http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/nvidia/155series/15665_vista.exe
(assuming you have Vista32)
Try it out, adjust the vibrance and see if it helps.
PS: see my other thread with pictures. Would be curious to see yours as well, laptops side by side. -
I am not running vista as I do not want all the extra features it has and would rather have my memory free for use in other tasks so I am staying with XP for now. Hopefully I can find a driver with better colors for XP.
I am also starting to wonder if I should have waited and gotten the WUXGA 1920x1200 might have had better colors. -
I plan on ordering a T61p hopefully if the next day or so if this batch has the LG screen.
Can anyone verify brand of screen on recent orders (within the past couple days or so)?
Thanks! -
I got mine on 9/17, they shipped it quick! I was stoked on that! Also I did get a LG screen that looked ok, could be a little brighter and the calibration helped a little bit.
But I ran into a slight issue after a few days with the black area that goes all the way around the screen. Sorry I dont have a picture, but the black area all the way around the screen that is not a part of the screen housing or panel enclosure, but just the screen black area that is there when you have a fully loaded window with color and the very small black area that is close to the screens edge. Well in the lower right hand side it bowed up very slightly for about 1/4 of the screen length and was not uniform all the way around the screen. Possibly a pixel placement issue for a small portion of the screen? Well it just started to bug me and with the $1700 I spent I this thing I figure I deserve a perfect computer!
So I called them up and they where willing to change it, but I had the base warranty and would have to ship it to them. Well I couldnt be without it now for work so I ended up calling and upgrading the warranty to 3yrs onsite so I could get someone out to replace it.
Well I just had them out to change it on Friday, the guy who came out was older (60's maybe) and an old IBM'r from back in the day. Anyway the guy had never seen this model yet and had to figure out how to get it apart and replace the screen (I made sure to ask if the replacement was LG) it was but this guy had a hard time taking it apart and putting it back together. It took him a good 2hrs and when he was done I checked it out and booted into windows only to find out the resolution was 1280x800. I was pissed! They given him the wrong part (Lower Resolution) and he left my laptop looking like it was used and abused (The stickers where the screws are were bent and looked like crap)! He didnt even get the casing on the panel flush in the back. This is my new baby and I feel he ruined it! I wish I could have done the install myself, he even had the PDF with install instructions. He was just following them but strugling with it and I could have done it so much quicker and better. So he had to order the right part and needs to come back. NO WAY do I want this guy to come back! I had to call wasting 6 transfer calls all over the place to get to the right people just to get this taken care of, I finally spoke with the outsourced company who did the repair and told them to send someone with experience! Also lenovo will not let you exchange a laptop, there is no way to do it! You have to return yours with a 15% restocking fee and then buy a new one! Wow, horrible....
So I am now waiting for another repair on Monday or Tuesday....
Wish me luck! -
Yeah I have dealt with that kind of situation before with other companies too...
I would avoid on-site workers like this, they tend to be worse than the ones where you send it in. I have seen this with other types of techs too for other companies. They outsourse on-site guys and you never know if you are getting someone who knows this company's products very well.
I think it is safer to use the depot warranty and send the laptop to a lenovo service center...just my 2 cents... even though it means being without it for a bit. I guess not everyone can do that though. I feel for ya man... -
Ordered on 10/2, shipped on 10/6, it seems I get a Samsung screen...
hope it is not too bad.
42T0328 42T0329 15.4 INCH LCD DISPLAY FRU -
I got the Samsung screen on mine. The colors are excellent.. brightness is great.. and yes there is some light leakage but its nowhere as bad as some people are making it out to be. Its slight at best and only noticable on a black screen. Your milage may vary..
-
My 14" T61p's screen is Samsung too, and there is some light leakage on the bottom.
-
Did you guys happen to get UWB even though there was no option to choose it?
-
I got my 15" T61p today. The screen is Samsung. But it's very nice. very little light leakage. no bad point. I love it.
-
hmm Hearing more good things on the latest Samsung batch.
-
bump
any more updates on recent t61p screens?
Thanks -
42T0328 42T0329 15.4 INCH LCD DISPLAY FRU YES
...Samsung... Will receive my laptop tomorrow... Here's hoping it's a good screen -
I got my T61P laptop last Monday, I have an LG screen which looks excellent
I ordered it on Sept 26th by the way so not everyone that ordered the laptop after the Sept 4th date is getting the Samsung screen. -
Also, are all the screens so sensitive to depressions on the rear of the lid? -
That's strange, mine isn't sensitive at all to depressions on the rear of the lid, I can push pretty hard and the roll cage keeps the screen from being distorted.
-
-
Wow that sucks maybe you should send this one back. My screen is so rock solid I can perform the "Kung Fu Grip" without distortion.
The Kung Fu Grip is where you open your laptop screen all the way so it's parallel with the keyboard, then you grasp just the edge of the lid and hold the whole weight of the laptop up by just the edge of the screen...it demonstrates how tough the Thinpad screen, rollcage, and hinges are hehe... It tends to make owners of other laptops stare in horror and shudder thinking of what would happen if they tried that on their laptops hehe... -
How much of a hastle would it be to send this one back? (Time/cost/etc) Would i just get refunded and have to purchase another one?

Samsung display on my T61p. Looks good on everything except black backgrounds. There's overall light leakage from all sides except the top of the screen and when looking at the right side from an angle I can see two large bands of light going from top to bottom. There's also graininess when looking closely. I haven't really tried the display out in full light, but I'm satisfied with brightness and colors. I'm using 65% brightness and I find it to be more than enough. I have one stuck pixel in the center of the screen which tried getting rid of through the various methods out there. No luck. It's not a bad screen, but adequate for my uses (I game on my CRT).
-
So I gave it 4 days... And I've had enough. After being forwarded to every department at Lenovo, I ended back at Tech Support and they said all they will do is "take a look at it"... So I guess I'm sending it in to the depot.
I was getting headaches the rippling + dim screen was so bad... Just typing, the entire screen would have a radial ripples.... From what I've read, it seems many of the Samsung's have this issue. Perhaps the Samsung screen is just ever-so-slightly thicker than the LG and it causes it to contact the skeleton?
Anyone else have updates on which screens are shipping? -
-
I have an LG screen, and it is a bit dim for my likes, but I still love my T61 compared to the DELL units I have.
-
Mine just shipped 10/26 and the FRU says it's a Samsung... trying to figure out which keyboard I got but the link in the Thinkpad sticky is broken.
Anybody know which keyboard this FRU is 42T3273? -
oue... mine shipped tooo... finally
-
I just got my parts list today and it has the LG screen. (42T0422)..... I hope that's a good thing! From reading in here it seems is can still go either way.
