Just got my notebook back from repairs. After a month and one day, and having it escelated twice, they ended up replacing the entire LCD and the planar board. Will check which screen they gave me at the end, but I wanted to give my first impressions before having the "i know which one it is" effect. This screen is MUCH better.

    *The colors are more vibrant
*Viewing angle is worse (quicker fade) BUT more uniform, which is a HUGE improvement. (No longer do i get the "corner" effect, which made reading fullscreen unbearable)
    *Same brightness? Close anyway
*Still grainy as all hell. White is more of a white with a million blue specs
    *Easier to read text
*No more flicker. I'm betting that was a planar board issue, but FINALLY I don't feel like i'm on a 1992 60Hz CRT!

    Checking....

    Manufacturer : LTN154P2-L05
    Product ID : IBM2887
    Manufacture : 2005

It's a Samsung... Oh well, drastic improvement over the last one!

Just received my T60 a few minutes ago. When I ordered my lappy and was sent my serial number, I went to check the manufacturer of my LCD. It was Samsung. I read all the comments about how bad the screens on the Samsungs were but decided to form my own opinion when I saw it.

    Well...

the screen is bright but has has a fair amount of light leakage at the bottom (~1/8 of the screen). Other than that, I am satisfied.
