T61p 2 month wait

I just ordered a new Thinkpad T61p, 15.4" with the new Penryn processors. When I submitted my order, the estimated ship date was 4/14, but I checked today and it is pushed back to 5/19, which pushed it back over a month and a half. Am I the only person with an estimated ship date this far back? Is there some kind of shortage is parts, I know the LG battery factory caused some trouble for some notebook manufacturers, but a month. Seems kinda ridiculous to me.

 

I ordered on 3/27 and my ship date still says 4/15.

 

Where are you from? Reason I ask is that I hear shipping times in other countries, like Canada, are much longer than in the US.

 

I noticed the new "free" WWAN options have pushed back shipping dates. Did you get one with the "free" WWAN option?

 

I re-ordered my 14" T61p last night. I got a free CD-RW. My ship date is 4/16. Even if they push it back, for what I paid, I'll wait. My T60p is humming along just fine.

Ordered R61 on 3/9. Estimated shipping date was 3/27. Now it's 4/14. I'm in US.

 

I did not get the WWAN option.

 

I'm from America, the northeast, so I don't think that should be a problem, but I did get the free WWAN. If they are in short supply why is it free? I would have gladly opted not to get it if I they had a more accurate ship date at checkout. I guess I may have to either redo my order once again or hold out and hope the shipping date is woefully inaccurate. It kinda sucks, since I used the EPP to purchase this, they can't just take the WWAN option out, but have to redo the entire order, which makes a pending charge on my account. So right now I have a total of four pending charges to my card three of which have yet to be taken off.

 

Hopefull y it will ship much sooner than that mine shipped in only a couple of days as did quite a few others so good luck!

My laptop was supposed to take nearly three weeks to ship when I ordered it a month ago. It shipped within two days.

Lenovo is taking a very conservative line on their shipping dates on the website, most likely due to delays they have suffered in the past. But since you're in the US (Canadian customers still appear to be having some issues), I think your system will ship sooner than they tell you. Keep us informed.

I think that date is very very conservative. Most likely your laptop will ship out before that. However if Lenovo doesn't get their stock in time, that is the utter maximum date by which your laptop will ship out.

 

what is this WWAN do for us? I think you have to contract with wireless company in order to use it. So is it worth to have? Will it be free in the future?

Oh, I just want to clear my mind, is the T8100 still considered as penryn?

 

The integrated WWAN antena is free, but the intergrated WWAN card option still costs over $100. Of course you also have to sign up with the service provider and pay monthly fees.

All T8xxx and T9xxx are penryn.

 

I had to wait almost a month for my 14.1" T61p....

 

Oh Lappy. My dear, little, sweet, new T61p. It is difficult to explain the emptiness that I feel waiting for your arrival. The wanting is only made less by the presence of my "old" faithful mistress - the T60p.

Please do not delay your arrival for too long, my dear. Even now my new, faster, "better", cheaper(?) tech love, Nahalem, is being birthed. Our time together may be brief.

I have suffered throught the IBM/Lenovo Hong Kong shuffle before. A couple of times now. I just signed up for the third. Outside of cancelling the order, there is not a whole lot that you can do about the shipping time. May as well make light of it. Two months would be an unusual wait.

 

I ordered a T61 with a 9 cell battery and a 4 cell battery on March 10th. Everything originally had an estimated delivery date of March 31st. Now the T61 + 9 cell has been pushed back to April 17th. The 4 cell has also now just been pushed back till May 12th!! That means even if my 4 cell ships on time we're talking a 2 month wait. I'm thinking about canceling my order since by the time I get everything there's a good chance the dell E-series will have been released.

 

Not sure if this will help but I ordered by T61p 14 inch on 3/17 and it said that it would ship until April 6 but I got it on March 27.

 

I ordered a 15 inch t61p last night and it said my ship date would be 5/21!!!! I called lenovo this morning and they told me not to worry and they estimate it will ship 4/23....

I noticed in someones sig they mentioned they ordered one 3/19 and it shipped 3/24. My ship date is still 4/15 but because of that I'm thinking and hoping it will ship today or tomorrow.

I did the last config around 3/30 and got a ship date 4/15. I actually ordered on 3/31 and got a ship date of 5/21. :-( Customer rep said he's see what he could do, but it's still 5/21.

 

Ordered 4/3, I'm hoping for Richard's luck. But before the end of the month would be really nice. Any other Canadian turn around times out there?
