    Added 2x2GB of G. Skill DDR2 667mhz @ 4-4-4-12.
Also coated the CPU and GPU with Artic Silver 5.

    Seems more faster.

Slightly increased 3DMark06 score and improved Aquamark 3 score quite a bit.
Fan is not running as much now.

The thermal compound upgrade isn't easy. Had to remove all the screws(there is alot...different sizes too)

Ran a memory test and everything seems good.

I'll post some pics in this thread when I get some time over the weekend.

I use that for my desktop. However, I was told that I need to replace the grease once a year or so but I just left it in. Do you plan on replacing it?

I'll do it again as needed based on the temps and the recommended time of use.

Not sure how much time it is rated for.

Normally with AS you are fine for quite some time. My P4 on this old desktop has had AS on it for close to three years with no change in temperature.

    just wondering,
your post says AS5 thermal but your picture is some goop from Antec? do they just rebadge and sell AS?

did the memory boot automatically to 4-4-4-12?

    PHP:
I took it off to get close and personal with my hardware. :D

After I cleaned off the stock thermal compound I carfully put on a very thin layer of Antec Formula 5. It's a high end thermal compound that has breen known to lower CPU/GPU cores by up to 10 degrees celcius over the factory thermal compound "grease" computer manufacturers use.

My mistake. For some crazy reason I was thinking I had Artic Silver 5.

I have Antec Formula 5. Good stuff.

After RAM upgrade the computer booted to the BIOS mode at the start. then I ran a memory check and system check using the "BIOS" testing applications that are configured in the T61p from the factory.

Everything passed tests and I saved settings in BIOS and rebooted. No Problems.

Here is the G. Skill readings using CPU-Z.

Can you tell me how much temperature has drop after you change your thermal paste? I have T61p with over heat problem and I wounder if changing thermal paste on cpu and gpu would change anything.

I live in Europe and I can't use warranty service since My notebook was bought is US.

So please tell me how you temperature has drop in idle and in high stress.

I would also like to know how much the temp has drop, if any. I've heard people have great success with this product while for others, it does absolutely nothing.

I actually bought COOLLABORATORY Liquid Pro thermal paste I was told it's the best thermal paste ever made, but it has limits like it's can't be used on aluminum spot, I hope the GPU and CPU doesn't have aluminum cover.

it's seems to be much better than Antec TC5, in the middle of the week I'm going to received the paste so I'll leave a note how does it work

get Noctua paste .. the best out there. That's what I put on, temps drop 2 deg C, so not much.

I've got the same RAM though, good stuff :)

    Nice work Sonda.
I might replace my T8100 thermal compound after a year or so. I rather prefer the CPU undervolted than having to open and do the hassle of removing thermal goop (I have done it before on a T42p) although my T61 is dead quiet and cool, no case in replacing. Will try to max my RAM later, I have other priorities on where to spend my hard earned money... I smell a PS3 b4 xmas :p

I tested GPU doing test after test of 3mark and I had no system shut down! for me it's work great the paste I used. But in my opinion if you are not having shut downs from over heating t61p don't bother to change thermal paste you need to be familiar with laptop hardware to do it. The thermal sensor seems to doesn't show the proper temperature I think it's showing higher temp that it's actually is like +5-10 degree.

Read and write speeds went up. Faster.

Thinking about getting a G. Skill Titan 256GB SSD as soon as the price comes way down.

You should consider undervolting. It would be very good for your T61.

Perhaps in benchmarking. Any real differences in everyday usage? Programs and files already open up fairly fast for me.

Thanks for the great tip.

I was thinking about getting a X9000 but the T9300 can do alot with the power that it has. I'm going to learn all that I can about the T9300 in my notebook to use all of its potential.

Here is a screen shot of my T61p undervolted with a large number of CPU and GPU loads trying to beat* it down. :D

In general you should remove the old and apply the new. Just putting more thermal paste on top of the old is kind of point less.

Here it is under full load running Orthos for over an hour. Temperature is 45 degrees celsius. This is at full 2.5GHZ speed of T9300. Lowered voltage to 1.05 volts with RMClock. Stable.

Don't forget to look into undervolting and TPFAncontrol application.

    Helps alot as well.

I use my T61p alot and it seems to get faster and faster with better coding and tuning.

Yup I applied some new thermal paste to the T61. Before, the C2D idled at 53C and loads at 95C. Now, the C2D idles at 37C and loads at 68C. Load temps used ORTHOS/Prime95.

    Much better now. :)
