    Hello,

The 6-cell does stick out of the back on the T61P. Yes, the 9-cell does too. You get about 4-5 hours with wi-fi on with the 9-cell and about 3 hours with the 6-cell.

If battery life is a real concern, try looking at the T400 :D

Actually the 6 cell does not stick out of the back of the 15.4" T61p. The 9 cell does. So it actually depends what size of T61p you have.

I have the 9 cell on my 15.4" T61p. I got about 3.5 hours of battery life originally. Now I am down to about 3 hours after 1 year of use.

I personally don't think the W500 would be worth the extra $800 or so that you would have to pay. The T61p should still be good for your needs. Just make sure you get the FX570 256MB graphics card for CAD.

There should be a review on the W500 coming up soon. Just need to wait a few more days.

Are you configuring your price to be at least $1,500?
