Hi,
I run my laptop off of AC power and do not use the battery at all, however yesterday inexplicably the batter guage went from the usual 100% to 99% and has been stuck at that level ever since. Has this ever happened to anyone before? Is this a glitch or do I need to optimize my battery?
Thanks!

Try reseting the battery under the power manager.

It only does that under certain conditions, look under lenovo power manager, there is a setting for when it will charge back to full.

What does it say under "Battery Details" on the Battery Information tab in the power manager (accessible by left clicking on the battery bar in the system tray and picking "Launch Power Manager...")?
Guessing status says "No Activity" instead of "Charging". Like someone else had mentioned, topping off the battery is somewhat counterproductive, and it's better for the battery to not do this.
There's a setting in Power Manager called "Optimize for Battery Lifespan" that will NOT charge the battery unless it drops below 96% (or a custom value)...
If you really want to top it off you have a couple of choices:
1) unplug, let the machine drop to 95%, and plug back in (should charge to 100%) or
2) Change the setting under "Battery Maintenance" to "Always Fully Charge".
T61p Battery Guage stuck at 99%
