    T61p Docking Station or Port Replicator? will extended battery fit?

    I am looking to get either the IBM 2504 docking station or the IBM 2505 port replicator.. what is the differences?

    I have the 9 cell extended battery on my T61p which sticks out the back of the laptop about 2 inches. Will I be able to put the laptop into the docking station with this battery in it?

    also, any other docking stations for this laptop which you recommend? anything more universal that will fit a whole host of different laptops? I would like to get something that can be used with future laptops some years down the road if at all possible.

    you can look up the differences on the Lenovo website or Google it.

    yes. they design it to be used with any laptop configuration that has that specific docking port.

    There are USB docking stations, but they can't do full HD video out, power the laptop, or do gigabit ethernet. USB 2.0 isn't fast enough for those things.

    I have my t61p in the docking station and it has the lenovo nine cell battery.

    The replicator doesn't have DVI or SPDIF out, which the dock have, since it is only a few dollars more i think you should just get the dock.

    Also the dock have an external power on and off key, which the replicator doesn't.
