Hey guys...I've finally got my order of the T61p that I placed back in July. Now that it's finally here...I've been doing some updating and whatnot.
I've noticed that on the nvidia site they do not have drivers for the 256mb GDDR3 Quadro 570m that's in my thinkpad. It states that the driver is specially provided by the company (IBM) because of the unique coding for the laptop.
However, I'm trying to look for a better update to this driver. I'm trying to fix the random crashes and lack of directx 10 stability for Bioshock and other games.
I've heard of laptoptogo.com or whatever it's called, where they have modded drivers specifically to increase performance for games. However, I don't know which driver on there to get. Some help please?
Also, I want to backup the current gpu driver for my graphics card in case I decide to revert back to it later or if the modded driver doesn't go as planned. How can I do that since it seems impossible to get drivers for the 570m for the t61p online?
Thanks for any help guys.

laptopvideo2go.com, you can use the 8600 GT drivers, it will work
-
are you sure??? How can I back up my current drivers so that in case it doesn't work I can still revert back?
-
Your current drivers are available from IBM, so you can always just download them again if it doesn't work. I'd say get the 163.69 drivers.

tell me your operating system i'll give you a direct link
-
-
so I should install 163.69 from laptopvideotogo?? I see that people are also using 163.44....so which one should I use? Latest one?
It seems people are losing ability for some functions such as brightness adjustment when installing 163.44. Which is the current and best one to install so that there are no problems what so ever.
I want to be able to play directx10 in games like Bioshock (crashes) and Company of Heroes (missing decals and bullet trails, laggy) without any of those symptoms.
Thnx guys. -
-
-
ok thnx now so which modded driver should I use? 163.69 or 163.44?
-
163.69, I'd say.
-
-
ok the problem is when i play in directx10...it doesn't load past the Bioshock letters. It crashes.
Also, another problem. ...In directx9...i can't save manually. That crashes game also. I have to get to save points. wtf?
Any fix guys? -
hows you laptop CTbear, i remember you waited quite a long time for it. Hopefully things are working out.
-
i am also having the same difficulty: directX doesn't work well. warcraft 3 crashed until i told it to use open GL, and counterstrike: source crashes, but i can't use open GL with the hl2 engine...
when i install the laptopvideo2go drivers, should i load the 8600GT info from the modded inf? -
Well first off I would definitely recommend to use 163.71, which is now WHQL.
See here:

You should completely uninstall your current drivers, reboot into safe mode and use Driver Cleaner or a similar program. Then use CCleaner or a similar program. After that it is safe for you to boot back into normal Windows and install the new drivers.
I've been BioShock glitch free for quite some time on a friends ThinkPad. (T61P) -
should i tell it that i have a quadro 570 or an 8600 GT (when it asks me to choose my device from the list of devices in the modded INF)?
-
-
argh!! it doesn't work!
i am almost positive this is a directX problem. every game that I play that has open GL support (e.g. counterstrike 1.6, warcraft 3) works fine. every game that requires directX (e.g. half-life 2 and related mods) crashes within 30 seconds of starting actual gameplay: complete system lock-up, requires hard reset.
what can i do to make the quadro not die when applications use directx?
EDIT: system specs, in case anyone is interested:
T7500 (2.2 GHz)
4 GB RAM (Corsair RAM installed afterwards)
Hitachi Travelstar 200 GB
Quadro 570M
WUXGA screen
Fingerprint reader
Bluetooth
Integrated Wireless N -
Make sure you have the latest DirectX also:

installed it as a GeForce 8600 GT and it works fine now. i also updated directX, but i'm sure that didn't do anything because i did that before i changed it from the 570 profile and it still froze then...
the only thing is that the laptop often overheats causing the system to black out and power off suddenly. this happened with some of my openGL games, and i'm pretty sure it's due to overheating because when i put it on top of an antec laptop cooler, it doesn't do this.
ah well, can't have everything you want. everything else about the t61p is great! -
I am pretty sure games like bioshock will run fine after you update the driver. I have t61p with xp and I used the 163.44 drivers to play bioshock.
-
i'm currently running on 163.71, so i'm pretty sure i'm good on that front... i actually tried the 163.74 drivers, and they didn't work regardless if i told the card to be a quadro or a geforce.
-
additional weirdness: it seems to not overheat at all when i remove 1 DIMM of my 4GB ram... maybe t61p just doesn't like dual channel
-
I think I have the worst look ever or something. Well...now it is performing very well. No problems whatsoever. I can play Bioshock and Company of Heroes...but not in Directx10 because it seems kind of buggy. Random crashes or missing decals...etc. I think I will need to get one of those updated/modded drivers for my 256mb Quadro 570m. -
ok one more thing...I am going to install the 163.44 drivers from laptopvideo2go website. Do I need a modded INF?? and if I do...which one?
So...I am just going to install 163.44 over my stock drivers right without uninstalling stock drivers? -
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15407
ESPECIALLY if you are going to play games that have recently been released. The Modded INF is not up at this moment but it will be soon. For most Nvidia GPU's you uninstall the old graphic drivers first and then install the new ones. I'm not sure if thats the proper installation procedure for Quadro. -
but that's like a very new one...so it hasn't been tested yet. It seems for most people 163.44 works very well. I'll just try that for now.
Just not sure if I need modded INF -
I've tried all the new drivers and I like 158.45 the best because they are very stable and can be overclocked.
-
i don't think I will be doing much OC cuz I had some bad experiences with my former Dell....
I just want a stable and efficient driver that will allow me to work hard and play harder. =] -
try 163.74 very stable just can't overclock.
-
does it work well for bioshock and company of heroes in directx10? without any glitches...missing decals...missing muzzle fire etc.?
-
ok after extracting 163.44 and opening setup.exe inside to install driver...the typical nvidia screen appears then it pops up error saying:
The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible wih your current hardware. Setup will now exit.
?????? -
/sigh did you download the inf file?
-
all i downloaded was 163.44 from your link that's all the driver itself...so no i didn't download inf file. Which one am I suppose to dl for inf file seeing as there doesn't seem to be one for 163.44.
-
oh wait nvm i see it now....ok i dl he modded inf...what about the INF enhancer?? is that needed?
