    Hi guys,
I did search and found a great many guides to monitoring heat, using custom laptopvideo2go drivers and custom driver installations .

I know that depending on the drivers used I would have varied heat levels while gaming and at regular idle.

I use Riva Tuner to determine the lows and highs of the T61P and found the following.

Stock Lenovo driver (174.16) Heat was at around 65-67deg on idle
Lapvid2go driver (177.83) heat level sits between 61-62deg on idle.

While gaming Both drivers ran Fear with Max settings at 82deg as a heat level.

Now my question is What should be an acceptable heat limit for gaming for this T61p or any laptop in general? I do get a better 3Dmark06 score using the 177.83 driver was 4531. The stock Lenovo Driver game me a 3DMark06 score of 4356. Sure, its probably not going to make a difference for me to notice but for numbers sake I thought I would mention it in the thread.

I used GPU-z and here is my setup.

Now I did notice the Bios comes up as Unknown. Is this a bad thing? Everything works fine. But it is a custom driver so I am guessing it comes up as such.

Thanks to all those who reply.

Very nice. 82C is fine for the GPU.

I am not really sure why the BIOS isn't showing up, but I wouldn't be worried about it.

Yeah like Johnny said 82C is perfectly fine for the GPU. I would only start to get worried if it was higher than 90C while gaming.

    Tim,
do you think it's because of the unsigned nature of the custom driver and .inf files?

That is probably it. My FX570m has been registered as a 8600mGT with certain modified drivers.

Not sure about the temps but I like the drivers that are in my sig. Got the new NVIDIA PhysX going too.

Yeah that might be it. I am using custom drivers as well (169.04). I tried GPU-z and it didn't show my BIOS either.

I get 80 deg F with AC working in the room, and 85 with AC not working (and so about 80 deg F room temp) with mine, overclocked to 648/900 core/memory. The shader goes to 1200MHz :) . The laptop is lifted about 1/4 inch on stands due to the heat.

and 80 deg is kinda high but the performance is priceless :)

edit: mine idles at 48-50 deg F
