I have had issue with the segate 100gb 7200rpm drive that came with my t61p. They replaced the drive for me overnight and I still have the problems of the marble drop sound and the banging sound about four times a min. The drive is a segate. I dont like seagate drives because I lost one on my desktop about a year ago. Well I have to say that support will do about anything for you, I asked them to replace my segate drive with an Hitichi and they said no problem and it will be here tommrow.. Now that is outstanding service..

    That sure is good service!

The Seagate 100 GB in my T61p worked fine. Same does the Seagate 160 GB that I have now :)

yeah man hitichi is much better. all i can tell you is that thinkpad, well ibm support is excellent. it cant get better. the reason is that i had a nmb keyboard and all i can tell is that the nmb keyboard really suck i really dont c the big deal abou it. they make alot of noise. but you know something i told them that i would like a chinocy keyboard and they just told me that they will over night with dhl. man i am telling ibm really rules it is really super fast.

For the OP-You had to RMA your current hdd right?
Same question for the NMB keyboard...

I agree that service like that is awesome, but RMAing stuff in general is a pain in the ass.

keyboard you don't, I got like 5 keyboards over the lifetime of my T41 just asking for them because I didn't like how one felt, or it got too dirty for my taste.... etc. etc.

they ship you in advance the parts and then you ship bad parts back, if you want i guess since they dont ask for credit card or anything.. i have two 100gb hd sitting here..
