Hello guys. I need your help.

I would like to order a T61p but the Lenovo representative toll me that if I order 4 GB RAM, Vista Ultimate 32-bits will see only 3 GB. I asked if the 64-bits Vista DVD is not included in the order and the answer was "no" and if I want to have Vista 64-bits I would have to buy it somewhere else.

My question is: Why Lenovo is selling something that I can not use? Is there any logic option that I don't know yet?

    Thank you for your feed-back.

To make money! Duh! LOL. I think they do offer a 64-bit Vista Business though.

But, the 4 GB RAM will be functional with this version?

32Bit windows will only be able to see/use ~3.5GB of your 4GB. If you want to use all 4GB you'll need 64Bit. There are a few extensions you can edit into your Windows build such at PAE (Physical Address Extension) however I do not have much experience with using PAE.

-Lenovo is selling it mainly because the hardware itself will see 4GB, however 32Bit Windows OS' will only be able to see/use around 3.5GB. So you'll see it power up with 4GB however when you look inside windows I believe it will only register a little over 3GB.

Yes 64-bit would use all 4 GB.

4gb, although will only register as 3gb, will allow the computer to run the ram in dual-channel mode (not possible with 1 1gb stick and 1 2 gb stick)

I recently ordered a T61p, Vista Ultimate 32bit with 4 gigs of RAM.
I'm now rolling with Ultimate 64 (using my Lenovo product key) and seeing all my RAM.
