Thoughts on the better option? Is the WUXGA TFT worth the extra $150?

    Thanks for the input.

Depends on what you want. Right now the WUXGA 15.4'' quality is only average at best and it's rather dim (175 nit).
    I'd stick with the WSXGA+

I'd go with WSXGA+, great resolution and WUSXGA is gonna be hard on your eyes on a 15.4'' imo.

The WUXGA screen is a 175 nits, not 150. My R60's screen is 150 nits. Cranked up it's decent, but I wouldn't mind something a bit brighter.

If you're getting Vista it does a much better job than XP of making things bigger using the DPI, which makes things crisper. At it's native resolution it would be too small for me, but there are some who like it. The best thing you can do is probably to go look at some screen though that will be tough as most stores only offer the lowest resolution screens. You're best shot is probably if you know someone with one.

I like my 15" WUXGA, but then again, i have fairly young eyes.

I just got a T61p with the WUXGA screen today, and it is very bright. Sitting near a window with the sun coming on on/near the screen it was still fairly bright and everything was readable. Depending on where you are I could show you my laptop, assuming you're not too far away.

I'd say it depends on your eyes and uses. I love the resolution on my 14.1" 4:3 1400x1050 screen, but I also fell in love with my 15" T60p IPS(1600x1200). A friend got a T61p 1920x1200 15.4" (the WUXGA) and he loves it. I used it for a bit, and while tiny, it wasn't unusable... infact I loved all the real estate it had. It really depends on your uses and eyes though, I'd say.

Just thought of this, as I sit here at work, but if you have an old crt somewhere around and a decent computer, you could always check resolutions on that (to see things size wise). But just like ponicg said, it depends on each individual person and his or her own eyesight. If you dont mind smaller things and more screen space for work, go with a higher resolution. If not, go for the lower resolution.
