    Hello, everybody

Is it hard to add an extra RAM on one's own or it is better have it added at the service?

    Any replies will be appreciated

DO your slef its very simply its just like plugging it in, google around for a detailed guide with pictures so you know what your doing. Even a novice can install their own ram. Taking it to get someone to put it in for you is a waste of time and money

Very easy to do, takes about 5 mins (and taking the screws off is the longest part!!)

I'm gonna do the same RAM upgrade than you SonDa5

I just bought my T61P with the basic 1GB RAM from Lenovo Canada and I'm gonna order 2x2GB of G. Skill @ 4-4-4-12 from Infonec Computers.

Yes, I also did it. I ordered T61p with only 1 dimm of 1Gb. And I am going to buy 2 Gb more as I ordered Windows XP, 32 bit. But I am not sure about what brand of RAM to buy. We have Transcend and Kingston. I know that Kingston is very good, but it is more expensive also.

Hasy anybody heard of Transcend in terms of its reliability? Or other brands..
I know that Corsair is pretty good, but it is expensive too and is not available in my place :(

I think any RAM would do a good job, just make sure you get one with a lifetime warranty.

Havn't had any problems at all with this RAM.
Good fast RAM with a life time warranty as well.
Hope it works out for you.

If you are on XP, I would recommend buying all 3GB yourself and then just sell the one that comes with the laptop or keep it just in case you have to take it in for servicing. That way you know they all have the same warranty and the same timing otherwise you'll have crappy Lenovo RAM running at 9-9-9-76...kidding, its not that bad...I don't think.
