Lately my T61p has been randomly shutting off on me, about once every other day. Even when its idle it'll just shuttoff, im on AC power too. I know its not a heating issue because I'm using a cooling pad and monitoring my temps. Anyone else had/have this issue?

Could be a hard drive issue. This is probably the easiest thing to swap out, so I would start there first.

I've had this happen in the past, but with a blue screen before the shutoff. Not sure if you have the blue screen though. Called Lenovo support and they sent me new sticks of memory and that solved my issues. Try to give them a call and see if they'll send anything over to solve things.

i think it is probably due to overheating, download tpfancontrol and prime95 run them both, check whether the prime95 can trigger a thermal overload shutdown on the laptop.

I know its not an overheating issue. I use tpfancontrol and a NC2000 cooler and I monitor my temps. I called lenovo and some tech guy is gonna come replace my systemboard and fan today so hopefully that solves the problem.
