I'm having issues using the TouchPad or Middle Button + TrackPoint to scroll in Windows Live Messenger. Has anyone else had these issues? Are there any solutions for this problem?

Have you switched the option from "scroll" to "smooth" in your TrackPoint settings?

It should also be noted that the trackpoint and scrolling does not work with all programs.

Yes I've tried doing that. I suppose that this is simply one of those programs that the trackpoint scroll will not work on.

My trackpoint scrolling sometimes works and sometimes does not. Yet another example of bad Lenovo software in my opinion. But really, you'd have thought that something this basic to the operation of a laptop would have been sorted a long time ago. Imagine if people had this problem with their cars? "When I press on the brake it sometimes works, but other times I just crash into the car in front of me. Can anyone help me?" Why is it that such low-quality performance is accepted in personal computers? OK, so nobody dies if my scroll button doesn't work but that does that still mean I have to pay for it anyway and Lenovo will just shrug?

Just to let everyone know I came up with a quick and dirty fix using some older threads that had a fix for iTunes.

Basically in the Synaptics folder and the actual driver folder, there are two files called TP4Table.dat and TP4Scrol.dat (each of those two folders has these two files). So in each of the four files I added, under "Pass 0 rules" the lines

    ; Windows Live Messenger
    *,*,msnmsgr.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,0,9

I saved and restarted my system, and now I can scroll in Windows Live Messenger using the middle button/trackpoint, or by using the right side of the touchpad. Just wanted to post the quick fix for anyone who was having this problem.
