Well, when I woke up this morning, I got an email saying my T61p shipped.

While most may think this is good news, I was actually kind of confused as I canceled the order on September 7, 2007 as some of your probably know. Apparently it is being held in Kentucky right now for "reasons beyond UPS control."

Good news is that I was so torn between the T61p and HP 8510p, but now the decision has been made for me! :) I could have been happy with either lappy so I'll accept the package when it arrives and hope for the best! ;)

This is fairly common for Lenovo. I had a laptop ship a week after I canceled the order. What's even more strange is that in several cases it almost seems like these Thinkpads have shipped faster if you cancel the order.

LOL, I know. When I called to cancel they didn't say anything about it being built or anything. If they were really in the build stage I doubt they would have let me cancel. It was kind of interesting but I guess it will all work out in the end! :)

That's the computer gods overriding your ridiculous decision to consider an HP 8510w. :D

I was consider the 8510 at one point but HP doesn't give the option to custom build... do they? I couldn't find a way.

They do actually. They overcharge by a lot though for custom configurations. If you go to the HP site, you can custom config them there.

I still want to see benchmarks on that lappy though! You can take your time now though! ;)

i canceled my T61p WUXGA on 8/30 and its still "In Process".

i've already got my WSXGA+ one, so maybe someone here will buy it from me if it ships. of course it would be faster than them ordering it. haha.

I was in a similar situation, it just took another call and a week before it got canceled. BTW if it does ship and you dont want it you might be able to make a profit from selling it on ebay or something. if you dont want to try that just dont open it and call lenovo for an rma. they will take it back and refund your money.
