This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    T61p Trusted Platform Module (TPM) ?

    Just received my T61p. Going through all the applications before I do a clean install.

    Is the TPM chip usefull? I've seen posts with log in issues ( timely logon/
    Firewall-AV blocking).

    As I understand the TPM - if the laptop is stolen no one is going to get the data and is needed to setup the encryption drive.

    i enable TPM on my t61p just in case. i don't see any performance loss anyways, so might as well.
