I'm thinking about getting the T61p, but WUXGA is too high res for a 15.4" IMO. Since WUXGA and WSXGA+ is the same ratio (1.6:1), will 1680 x 1050 look fine on a WUXGA screen?
-
LCD's run best at native resolution, anything else tends to look fuzzy. You're better off waiting for a WSXGA+ T61p to come out.
-
Here's hoping they release a 14"WS w/ WSXGA+ -
Bleh, Any expected date for a WSXGA+? Becasue I kinda need it in about a month. So I doubt I'll be able to get one.
-
Umm, I just checked Lenovo's website - I dont see any T61ps, but the T61s there all do have the option for WSXGA+ (1680x1050)... Unless you are in dire need of the Quadro (I think its a quadro) GPU...
-
-
look under "Mobile Workstation", the T61p is there. So far only with a 15.4" WUXGA option.
-
Hmm ok I did that - there is a WSXGA+ option on the leftmost configuration... amazed to finally see WUXGA (most companies I've seen post it as an option in the press release but never can be found when it is launched)
*eyes the T61p w/WUXGA... man I'd love to pick up one fo those... now if only I hadn't bought my T60... meh oh well. I'll just wait for the T62 to come out (which wont be for a while probably haha)
EDIT: Whoops that's a T60p >.< nevermind. -
arghhhh...I was all set to get the T61p this weekend when I find out that the WSXGA+ screen isn't available yet and is scheduled for "late availability" whatever that bloody means:

Anyone manage to get an IBM rep to say roughly when "late availability" is? I'd really like to get the Quadro chip -

I've been saying here for a long time that the T61/60 WSXGA+ screen is very mediocre.
Here's some picture proof:

The T60 looks better in those pictures if you ask me. I am perfectly happy with my LG WSXGA+.
-
You mean the T60 flexview or T60 WSXGA+
I'm surprised at how good the new MBP looks in those. But I give the edge to the flexview. Wish I had one haha. -
I mean the T60 WSXGA+.
The FlexViews have amazing viewing angles - but then again I dont see myself taking advantage of that. -
Hmm, i thought the other two looked better in the pictures. But to each their own. I've never seen the led-backlit MBP except for these pictures.
-
The WSXGA+ looks ok except when you get to pictures and angles. The WSXGA+ is the brightest of the three but the color accuracy is the worst. But that is expected for a TFT.
I gotta say though, I'm glad I didn't buy my T61 for gaming. I probably wouldn't buy a T61 if I was willing to spend 1500+, the screen wouldn't be worth it with the extra graphic horsepower.
Also, is the MBP using a TFT or IPS? For 2000 dollars or whatever the MBP costs it should have a IPS.
I really wish they brought back IPS screens, I would of been willing to pay an extra 300 dollars if it was a widescreen. IPS screen + LED backlight = a great screen and uber battery life. -
All those color variations (the LG SXGA+ being overly saturated with blue) would probably be taken care of with calibration. I've got a Monaco Optics XR Pro. Whatever monitor I get (LG or Samsung) I'm sure that calibration will help.
-
I like the WSGA+ as well out of the three, and macbook Pro's screen seems a bit yellowish IMO.
-
#1) T60 IPS
#2) MBP LED-backlit, a surprisingly close second
#3) WSXGA+ , a distant third.
just my opinion... i say tomato and u say tomatoe -
FYI, I called a Lenovo rep (via their 800#) and he said he doesn't think they're coming out w/ a WSXGA+ screen for the T61p. Anyone know of or hear of any confirmation other than the article I referenced?
-
many lenovo reps dont know what they are talking about, (at least i hope he doesnt know). I asked 4 different reps on when the t61p was coming out about 3-4 weeks ago, and i got 4 different (and really wrong answers).
-
I figured as much when the first question the guy asked was "where did you see that on our web site?"
Any other suggestions on how to find out when it's coming out?
T61p WSXGA+?
