In response to some of the threads concerning screen quality online, I decided to take some pictures comparing my T61p with my desktop monitor, the HP w1907. Main differences are that the screen is 19", has a resolution of 1440 x 900, and has a glossy finish instead of the matte on the T61p.

    Image quality differences:
    Graininess on the T61p
    Yellowness tint on T61p
    Lack of vibrance on T61p

Overall, the LCD on the Thinkpad is perfectly usable despite the lack of saturated colors. While there is some graininess, it is nowhere near an unusable level.
I have the Samsung with FRU #42T0329.

If anyone's interested, a comparison with a Sony 46" XBR HDTV can also be done.

Edit: HP w1907 on the right and T61p on the left.

    Have you done any calibration?

Great - I was worried about the screens on these laptops because I was going to buy one. Thanks for the pictures.
Man, that yellow tint is somewhat pronounced especially on the white areas. Also the brightness is not as good as the desktop monitor, but duh, of course it wouldn't be, it's a laptop.
As Arkit3kt said, some calibration could likely remove the yellow and also as far as "vibrance" I know that there are vibrance setting in the nvidia drivers that can boost colors. However sometimes less saturated is more realistic.

I went through Jooooeee's recommended calibration website and made changes within the Nvidia control panel. Driver's are still stock for now and these are my current values.

    Brightness: 42%
Digital Vibrance: None (also unchangeable for some reason)
    Contrast: 35%
    Image Sharpening: None (also unchangeable)
    Gamma: 39%

I'm pretty happy with these settings for now, but I'd love to get a chance to get an actual calibration done on the T61p and w1907 with measurements.
