My uncle was smoking near my laptop. It was in a pretty small room and the smell was very strong, but was only for a few minutes. Should I be worried about the ventilation system in my laptop?

Also, the laptop was always dead silent. I couldn't hear anything even with my ear next to the fan. Now, I hear a very faint fan sound, though it might have always been like that. Can someone with a new T61p verify this?

    Thanks.

It should't do anything... It's almost unthinkable that a public-released product wouldn't stand cigarette smokes...

It takes years of use for a laptop's fan to become blocked with tar, but don't worry, I heard there's a new patch you can use on it. ;)

Yeah, you'll be fine with a couple minutes. It's only after months and years that it becomes a problem.

I hope it doesn't have an urge for nictotine gum.

...and twitches every half-hour. If it gets too cranky, threaten to replace it with a Dell. Should straighten it right out.

Alright, thanks guys. I guess a few minutes was far too little to do anything. I tend to go overboard a bit lol.

Well, I'm in China and more than half of all men smoke, so I've pretty much given up on telling him to stop, let alone quit. I moved into another room. Thanks.

Maybe after many many hour of smoke exposure.. but not after some minutes. I don't think you should worry ..
