    Hi,

    I was wondering if anyone had this problem and could assist me. I apologize if there is already a similar thread posted.

    Last night I put my T61p in hibernate. After it had finished hibernating I tried switching on my laptop but it only showed a blank (black) screen and it did not go beyond that.

    After a couple of more attempts (all attempts >10mins waiting), I tried discharging my thinkpad by removing the battery/AC and pressing the power buttons a couple of times before trying again but with the same results. I decided to try discharging again but leaving it overnight.

    This morning I tried booting up the machine (for 1 hour) but I still have the same result.

    I then removed the HDD and tried booting up but with the same results.

    I have hibernated before successfully on Win 7 x64 RTM with the windows video drivers.

    The only thing that I have changed recently (2 days ago) is the driver for the video card (when I switched to the lenovo provided one).

    I have seen these symptoms on other laptops before and it always was concluded as a hardware failure on the graphics card.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    You can push power 10 times without battery and power, then turn it on. If it beeps 1 long and 2 short, it is graphic hardware failure.

    Already tried that, but went ahead and did as you advised. Same problem persists.

    Additionally I removed the ram and got the 1-3-3-1 post beep.

    ah well... seems like it is time to get a W500 or T400 + desktop ...
    Since replacing the mobo seems like only a temp fix....
    :(

    Just as info for the other unfortunate nvidia card holders:

    * how old was it?
    * nvs140 or fx570?
    * switched on/off every day (i.e. temperature cycle)
    * used for gaming or other GPU intensive tasks?

    Thanks.

    Just seeing on my local craigslist some poor man offering t60p parts, everything except the board with the fried nvidia GPU.

    I'm really getting a bit worried...
