I have a Microsoft BT 5000 notebook mouse. When I turned it on and activated the BT signal, the BT software in my laptop said it could not find any BT devices. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Which Operating System do you have?
-
You "activated" the BT signal by using the FN+F5 and powered on the BT radio? Did you go to my BT places and try to pair it there? Also make sure your wirless switch on the front of the laptop is turned to the right.

He needs to install the MS Bluetooth driver for his MS mouse. I just need to know which OS he has to send him the link.
-
Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't know about the switch, which was turned on, or the FN F5 to turn on the BT radio. There is an astonishing lack of user information that came with this computer and the mouse as well.
I am using Win XP Pro. I turned on everything and was able to successfully connect the mouse. Is there a driver that will give any added functionality to the mouse. I saw that it was not possible to assign functions to the button and wheel.
Thanks for all the help.

Additional features would have to be programmed using software that came with your mouse. Did it come with a disc of some sort?
-
No, there was no disc with it. Many people have complained about the lack of support for the mouse, however it's pretty well setup as it comes. You can adjust sensitivity and functions for the pointer with the normal Control Panel settings. There is one side button that is set to go back one web page when on the net. That's a very handy use for that button and I'd leave it there even if I could do something else with it.

Thank you for that nugget of information - I've been struggling for the last 15 minutes to get my T61 to find the new MS Bluetooth notebook mouse 5000... I even went so far as to try two different sets of AAA batteries. Only when I read this thread did I discover that Bluetooth was disabled via FN+F5. I enabled Bluetooth and the MS mouse was found immediately.
I agree 100% with you Jerry... but admittedly I didn't help my case by getting the OEM version of the MS mouse! Still, I am amazed at the lack of online documentation from Microsoft on this mouse.
Regardless, now that I have this mouse working I am a happy camper!

Once a Bluetooth mouse such as yours starts working correctly are there any downsides to it? Does it work just like a wireless USB mouse would? How about a USB wired mouse? I've got a Logitech V320 with the teeny tiny USB transmitter and I'm afraid I'd snap that sucker off if I wasn't real careful. Bluetooth would seem to solve that potential disaster.

It appears to work the same way as any other mouse that I've used in the past. My desktop systems all use older Logitech USB wired optical mice but since this MS BT 5000 notebook mouse is based on laser technology it should be a lot more accurate than older non-laser based optical mice.
No downsides to the BT mouse or the way that it works except that I have found this MS BT 5000 notebook mouse to be way too small for my (gigantic) hands! If I could do it over I'd buy some other bigger BT mouse. -
how do you like the MS BT 5000? I was considering picking one up but so many reviews claim that there is too much lag in the movement. Whats your experience so far?
-
I've experienced no lag whatsoever. I've been using my MS BT 5000 since last night and other than its small size (which makes it totally unsuitable for my big hands) I have no complaints of it.
It was detected immediately after I enabled Bluetooth on my T61 (by pressing FN+F5 and enabling BT in there). My T61 went to sleep a couple of times and when I woke it up, the mouse was active within a few seconds of the notebook waking up.
My T61 is running Vista Business but I cannot think of any reasons why the BT MS 5000 mouse would behave worse under Windows XP.
Hope this helps. -
Help!!
I have the same mouse and computer but I am running Vista Business. I've been struggling to get this stupid mouse to connect for weeks. My wireless is activated, Bluetooth is activated (lights indicate so), and mouse is brand new and turned on with fresh batteries and connection button was pressed. Mouse is detected by other computers, so I think it's something wrong with my computer. Any help is MUCH appreciated.
