    Hello,

could somebody tell me the dimensions of the T61p with and without the 9-cell battery? I'm looking for a nice notebook sleeve - I'm open for advice on a fitting and stylish notebook sleeve.

    Thanks in advance.

They have a nice site where you can see the dimensions: IBM - Lenovo Sleeve sizing chart

    So the T61p with/without 9-cell battery should have the dimensions (L) 14.1, (H) 10.8/10, (D) 1.4 (inches). Can you confirm these dimensions?

i just ordered one of these for my new T61, should be here tomorrow. key selling points for me: ballistics nylon, 6mm neoprene, handmade in SF, customizable features, and a very finetuned fitting process to get the exact right size for your exact make and model of notebook, and, in the case of thinkpads, battery size.

also, i received two(!) personal notes from their staff within a day of my order, confirming my notebook make, model and battery, welcoming additional questions, and thanking me for the business.

hoping the product itself lives up to the excellent service and the advertised features, but, needless to say, i'm quite optimistic that it will.

Here's another very nice (and expensive) notebook sleeve: Booq Vyper L. It's fits a Lenovo Thinkpad T61p 15,4" 9-cell battery perfectly.

I love my Booq! Might go buy another one for myself this holidays: The Booq Boa Slimcase - sort of a Sleeve+mini backpack hybrid. But you're right they're a bit on the pricey side tho.

What options did you SF Bag purchasers select (orientation, flap, etc)? They look really nice, but I'd like something that zips... I wish they had a zip option. I'd also like something that is water-resistant for added protection. Any suggestions?

I just ordered a couple more. I put mine in a backpack, but want the option to tuck under my arm and carry around. I generally order sleeve+flap. I did order sleeve+flap+strap for my tablet, as it looks like that is going to get some more mileage and may be carried around more standalone w/o the backpack. Waterfield (sfbags.com) is top shelf service and quality of products.

identical experience to me, i also told them i found them through this forum on NBR. :)

Got mine last friday (config=horizontal, full flap "i like to flap" (lol), no strap) and am extremely impressed. they weren't kidding when they said they used ballistics (bulletproof vest grade) nylon on the outside, and the fit for my t61 is simply perfect.

my first hand experience with the product itself matches the extraordinary customer service i reported earlier in the week.

let me know if anyone wants me to post pics.

I wouldn't mind seeing them as I'm probably gonna get one for my x61. Perfect fit eh? Being it a slipcase/sleeve it will be able to fit my backpack.

I'm still looking for nice water-resistant sleeves.

sorry for the lag on the pics, and apologies in advance for the low quality. :( i'm a pretty crappy photographer and i had a hard time figuring out illustrative angles.

after a couple uses, i have only one minor complaint about the sleeve, and thats that it seems just a little wider than it needs to be, by maybe 2cm. i imagine that provides a little extra buffer of cushion though.

the materials are truly excellent though, as tough as you could ask for. the closure velcro is tough enough that you can suspend it upside down by the holder loop on the bottom with the laptop inside, and it stays put.

Excellent pictures shorebird, I wish I had gone for a sleeve like that instead of my bag. :)

This is the carrying case that I bought: http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/...-category-id=A782FF1AE0E945CCA8D7AB1C9ACA72B2

Althought it doesn't look exactly like that. It doesn't have any leather on it like that strip at the bottom in the preview picture. I guess maybe new versions have it? My case looks like this:

    Inside looks like this:

It fits my 14.1" T61 and its power adapter very well. I'm happy with my purchase.

I just bought a Targus women's case. It is advertised as being able to accomodate a 15 inch laptop. It's true I can fit the notebook in the case but not the sleeve that is made to protect it.

On the Waterfield designs you can choose if you want the flap or not.

I love the look of that sleeve/case. Does it come with a handle? It says it doesn't but it looks like it might in this picture...

No, it does not come with a handle. The zipper goes all around the bag. What you see in the picture is the side which holds together the two halves (when zipper opened). I hope you understand what I mean.

in my opinion it adds a significant degree of protection from dust/dirt/liquids/abuse if you intend to use the sleeve by itself, or in a bag (like a back pack) where you're liable to carry lots of other random crap. since this is me, i considered it necessary.
if you're less of a dirtbag than me, and/or mostly carry your sleeved machine in a dedicated briefcase then no, not so much. the fabric and padding of the waterfield bags is very tough and very protective for a sleeve.
