hi, i just bought one nice T61P 6457-5GG UK model from one guy on ebay, collected and paid in cash... but i bought just the machine and charger, no CDs/DVDs, no OS,no box, documentations... its useless to say how happy i am with this machine, its looking very nice like new, but should be i afraid about this laptop? the laptop should be in warranty till 2011-05-27 , but if i have any problem with the laptop, can i just call them and send them my laptop without any proof of purchase? can i know from somewhere, if the laptop has been stolen ? the guy has more of IBM/Lenovo laptops, he looked quite serious... and the last question, can i obtaining new recovery/os DVD/CDS?? thank you for all your informations...

I don't even think new ones come with any discs; you make your own.

You need to make your own. Thinkpads haven't come with recovery cds in a while.

If you're really worried about it, I'd suggest (1) contacting the seller and asking about it and (2) contacting the police to see if the laptop has been registered as missing and maybe (3) calling Lenovo and asking them the same question.

The only thing that really bothers me here is the no-OS. All the other stuff is easily explainable.

Do you have a COA on the bottom of the notebook?

Do you have a link to the auction?

Check the sticky. You can use the warranty lookup to see if the warranty is as stated.

TO GREG: Yes, on the bottom i have the COA, so im using the clean Vista Ultimate without any problem
