Hi, I've been starting to having strange errors on my T61p so I did a chkdsk. Well, twice it froze while doing chkdsk... is that bad?
I've never seen this happen before and not sure what to do if I can't even check the disk for errors.
Both times I scheduled chkdsk to run during boot and I booted to safe mode using the msconfig app.
First time it froze during step 5 for a few hours. I shut the machine off but then I thought maybe it needed more time even though I've never seen chkdsk need that much time before.
So, the second time I let it run overnight (more than 10 hours) and when I woke up it was at step 5 frozen.

I have read several posts on this issue on the Lenovo forums. You might take a look. Here is one.

Man you have been running into all kinds of problems. That sucks. Maybe you have issues with the hardrive itself? Do you have an extra one you can swap out? I know that a long time ago I had a laptop right out of the box and the hardrive was defective. I tried to defrag it and it never finished. The little red and green blocks were all over the place. Once the hardrive was replaced, it was fine. I know you are running checkdisk but maybe it is the same issue.

Thanks for the link Jackpro. I'll try removing R&R and see if that works. It looks like the best thing to do now is to actually do a clean install.
Yeah, I've been having some issues. I don't think this latest one is due to my other issue, but if my HDD is damaged I wonder if it could be due to all the random shutdowns my machine has experienced.
