Hi,
I'm considering purchasing T61p. I noticed that a number of individuals are complaining about their laptop crashing when engaged in graphic-intensive work. How common is this problem? Are there any users who recently received their T61p without any such problems?
Thanks!

Mine was built 10/7/07
It has no graphics difficulties at all. -
Built on 11/28/07 - no problems, and I have tested it thoroughly with everything I can get hold of to test it with. I have not yet experienced a bsod or crash of any kind with this machine.

Mine's working fine. I'm using the mod'ed drivers. I've played though most of Thief 3 on this machine, a little Doom 3, and I still play some Thief 2. I also run Celestia with 64K textures, as Stellarium too.
In 4 months the only BSOD I've had was during a defrag with a 3rd party application, but the hard drive protection might have kicked in. -
No problem with mine and that includes about 125 hours of TF2

no problems...my only bsod was when i undocked it from my dock improperly when it was doing something important with an external drive...i forgot what it was exactly though.
-
No problems here, I've been running some games on it, and just completed a complete test just to make sure everything was spiffy. No BSOD's here, either (running Windows Xp Pro).

None for me either, built on 10/24/2007/
-
able to play crysis, gear of war, sango.
all runs perfectly. -
I dont recommend to buy the Invidia Quatro FX570M for your machine.
Even now, it is still have problem, mine build on 12/2007. I would buy the Invidia FX140 for the T60, not FX570M. The LCD from LG is not that good either. Have a look at this link. http://lenovoblogs.com/insidethebox/?p=19
I dont like to pay $1,500.00 for the machine then I come back here to learn how to fix the problem on those Quatro FX570M. Yeah... yeah... yeah...

Weird, I like the Quadro 570, it's a good chip IMHO. I just came back from a several hour gaming session with the notebook here, using the standard preload drivers (I haven't got around to doing a clean install yet), and it came through with flying colors.
There will be a few chips out there, no matter how good the QC is, that will fail. The fact of the matter is that electronics shipments fall victim to the "law of large numbers", which basically boils down to the fact that even if you have 99.9% perfection in a certain item, if you ship enough of them out, you'll still end up with a pile of failed devices. This applies to pretty much every component of the system, not just the graphics hardware. But that being said, the chances of getting a lemon are extremely slim.
T61p graphic difficulties - still?
