Hello, I made a thread about standby heat not too long ago, but this problem is no longer an issue http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=168737 . This is a different issue:

the new problem is that the machine is not resuming from Standby. Let's say the machine is using the battery as power source, the lid is closed from standby and the Moon (Standby) icon is lit. When I open the lid to resume, the only thing that happens is the battery icon lights (along with the Moon icon) and that's it (the disk also seems to spin up, and I can turn on and off the ThinkLight but no response). Pressing the Fn key or any other combination of keys that would normally allow the machine to resume from Standby fails. The only option is to hold the power button and do a hard-boot. This happens maybe about half the time.

Another issue, if I am on battery power (usually), and the monitor powers off for energy preservation, when I go to resume, the screen does not power back on, but everything is still running. (To clarify, the system did not go into standby, but just shut off the monitor to save power, as per Power Manager settings). The only way to fix this, that I've found, is to put the machine in Standby by using the Fn+F4 keys and then resuming just afterwards. In each case, the system resumed from Standby without problem. Is this a video driver problem? Power Manager problem?

    System Specs:
T61p 15.4" with Clean Install Win XP Pro SP2
    2.2GHz T7500
    4GB OCZ memory
    200GB 7K200 hitachi drive
    Quadro 570M

    Video Driver: 6.14.11.5655

A general question: When we do the regular overall system updates ("update my system"), will these kinds of fixes be automatically downloaded?

(in other words I'm not sure if I have these fixes. I just had an overall syetem update)
