I just got off the phone with a Lenovo representative and he said the T61p was supposed to be released Friday, June 8th, but that it will more likely be released early next week. He confirmed that it will be available with a 14" 4:3 SXGA+, and a 15.4" widescreen. He also confirmed it will have the 570m video card. He estimated the price difference compared to a similar T61 would be $100 to $150.

I ordered mine today too. If the T61p comes out within the next week and it looks good, then I may cancel and get that, but until that happens I'm not going to change my current order.

it might be just in time to cancel and reorder
i've never had a 4:3 notebook (had 3, and they've all been widescreen)
i'm not sure what to think, or if i'd hate it

I'm hoping it is only around 100 bucks more :D That would rock, espeically with the 4:3 screen.

Wow, this sounds too good to be true. We could have T61p in 4:3 as soon as Friday? Too bad your source was a Lenovo sales rep though. That pretty much ruins my hopes of this info actually coming true. The sales rep I spoke to on May 9th told me that the T61 would be available in 4:3 within a few days and it's been nearly a month.

This sounds too good to be true. 4:3 screen and better GPU for only $150 more? That's crazy talk :D

But I have this gut feeling it's gonna ship around Thanksgiving.

By Thanksgiving huh? Such optimism. The last Lenovo sales rep I spoke to said the T61 would never be released in standard 4:3 ratio (this was about a week ago). This waiting is torture.

Maybe the sales rep only meant the T61, not the T61p, which seems like a reasonable possibility. In addition their tech specs page up until a few days ago used to to specifically list a 14.1" 4:3 SXGA+ screen. Now the only hint of it is in the battery specs for the T61:
    4, 6 or 7 Cell Lithium-Ion (14.1" widescreen)
    6 or 9 Cell Lithium-Ion ( 14.1" standard and 15.4" widescreen)

    So whats the difference between a 128mb 140m and a 128mb 570m quadro? One is a 8400 gs and the other a 8600 gs?

I think they're most likely 8400M GT and 8600M GT and not the GS version. That's sort of a guess, but I'm willing to be they base them off of their higher end cards in the line.

Will T61p have 8000M series graphics cards or just quadro series and intel integrated graphics?

Will be released another model of T61 with 8000M series like X1400XT in T60?

I don't understand. In Europe T61 15,4'' with 570M quadro has already been realesed. At least, lenovo refers it in their site. What's the difference between this model and T61P?

I thought the card we are expecting to see in the T61p is the NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M with 256mb
