How old is the original one? Which manufacturer and how many cycles on it?

I'd advise against use of third-party batteries on ThinkPads of almost any era.

Him saying the original one being bad, 99% chance it's a Sanyo battery. My 4:3 T60 had a Panasonic 6 cell battery, still held up 75% cell count til I sold it.

As George (ajkula66) points out, avoid 3rd party batteries at all costs. Lenovo is pretty picky about batteries. Not to talk about all the cheap and crappy manufacturers out there. By the time you pay money for a decent 3rd party one, it is the same price as an OEM one.

Third party batteries in my experience tend to wear more quickly and offer less battery battery life.
