There's already a discussion about this... -
That is just another thread about a rep giving a date. Lenovo sales reps have been notorious for giving random dates. They really just don't know.
This is the first time I've heard somebody with some inside information (Andrew) give release information. I don't think he would come on hear and get our hopes up if there wasn't some truth behind it. -
It's definitely coming July 10/11 but with WSXGA+ screen delays I'm wondering when we'll actually have them in our hands.
-
I thought they were starting to get the laptops out faster (except those people that ordered during the middle to end of May fiasco). Is it just the 14" laptops that are coming out faster? Is anyone getting their T61 15.4" laptops?
Anyway, Lenovo still has a couple weeks to catch up before the T61p release. -
Well I ordered mine on the 25th I think and my estimated ship date is July 27 =X. It makes sense because the lenovo website says the WSXGA+ screens may delay your shipment "3 to 4 weeks". It'll be a week and a half until they release the T61p but will still have a couple weeks after to fix screen problems. If anything it will worsen the screen problems because many people will be ordering the T61p and they'll be behind in the queue of people like me who ordered before.
-
I guess I thought the delays were because of low supply of screens right now. Ya know, like maybe the supply of screens are just trickling in. I was hoping they would be getting a big supply of screens soon and then they would be getting them out faster. Probably just wishful thinking on my part; maybe the delays are just because they can build them fast enough.
-
14.1" wide screen please!!
/crossfingers -
I'd be willing to bet that a 14" form factor is too small to dissipate all of the heat the T61p will generate.
-
Yeah, as far as I'm concerned the 14.1" T61 configured w/nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M, T7500 or greater, and 2GB RAM or greater is a 14.1" T61p. It's really all the performance needed in a business class laptop.
If they do come out with a 14.1" T61p, I bet that's all it will be. They will just make lesser specs unavailable on the model. -
The P model is meant to be for CAD and other GPU intensive applications, for which a 128 MB card isn't going to cut it
-
you dont need a lot of vram for cad.
-
will these be available with like, an 8600m or something? or just those weird little quadro thingies
-
14" T61p?
Yes please!! -
Definitely depends on what software you're using. I use SolidWorks with fairly large assemblies (vehicle chassis) and a 128MB cars will not cut it.
-
Sure it depends on the software. But still the need for vram is much higher in games than in CAD software simply because u usually hardly have any textures when doing CAD. It is more likely that the GPU of the NVS140 is to slow to handle your large assemblies. So basically the NVS570 will be way better for ur needs but not because of the bigger vram but because of the faster GPU respectively more stream processors.
-
More RAM never hurt anyone and I would be shocked if it came with anything below 256MB. I think all of the specs point to 256MB anyway. I think that's enough to take full advantage of the card. Heck, dell is putting 256MB on the NVS140M.
-
what gpu will these have dammit
-
It has been said a million times it's a Nvidia Quadro FX570M likely with 256MB of RAM. I don't see why there's such a debate here.
-
How good will this be for gaming? What can it be compared to?
-
go to nvidia.com and have a look.
-
Look at the benchmarks for the 8600M G and 8600M GT. It should bench somewhere in between those two for games.
-
oh awesome thanks. ill def be buying this then.
-
wow some1 is selling this already.
i wonder how many federal reserve notes equals 61 699,00 Kč ??

I looks like one can also order already from this site.
(It doesn't say anything about estimated shipping times though...)

wow, that has got to be over 3 thousand dollars. i wonder what these are going to sell for on lenovo, considering i can configure a decent T61 for around 1200 bones ....
-
That's closer to $3700 US. The T60p goes for about 2,700 EUR/ $3,700 US as well on that site. So I don't see that price being too much of a reflection on the price in this country.
-
good points. thank you.
-
Poor Europeans get all of the bad deals on lenovo laptops lol.
-
Not just laptops.
Just about everything is more expensive in Europe.
There are many reasons for that.
You Americans don't know how good you have it.
-
Hmm nice ... they have WUXGA .....
Oh.. and unhooked... paying $9 toll to go on a bridge is no fun either.
They somehow tax americans in different ways. ;-)
--- -
How's $7 for a gallon of European gas sound?
-
In europe there is the VAT (value added tax), imposed at different percentages to all goods and services (from 10-20%), this by itself does not account for the vast difference in prices (over 100% sometimes, especially tech goods). I feel that the European market is relatively slower and spends less on technology compared to the American, hence the higher prices imposed by the importers (especially the ones who monopolize import of one particular brand, eg. Nikon importer), they feel that there isn't enough profit considering the numbers. On the other hand maybe there would have been quicker adoption of new technologies if the prices were lower. I personally don't mind paying 20% VAT which contributes to free health and education (well the latter less than the former), but not 100% and more (take a look at the Garmin products for instance). Now the gas prices, that's another bitter story.
-
Do most European nations have income tax? It would be insane if they had the VAT and high income tax like the states.
-
yep, we do. but we don't pay thousands of dollars for college and our beer is cheaper and better
-
I've met quite a few of European expatriates around here, in Southern California.
Heck, our Governor is an Austrian immigrant.
I'm sure they're missing their native land beer, just not enough to go back.
