This is sort of a continuation of a question I asked in the What Notebook Should I Buy? forum, is the T61p with a T7700 and Quadro FX 570M louder than an old A20p with a PIII750 and a 16MB graphics chip, or quieter, at idle and full load? If louder, would getting a T7500 or T7300, or underclocking the T7700, help lower the amount of noise it makes?

The T61p is considered a very quiet laptop but I'm trying get silent or nearly silent, and as a refrence point I'm comparing to a sound level I'm familiar with, the A20p.

If you can help me out, please don't take hdd noise into account as it will be replaced.

Most people here haven't seen a PIII notebook in a while if ever. If you want a quiet notebook, get the Intel card and run in low power mode.
