Hey there. I've been on the board here for about a month trying to decide which laptop to purchase. First it was a Dell, then it was a Sager, then it was an Asus. Now it's the Thinkpad T61p.

Where are you guys purchasing your laptops? Are you buying direct from Lenovo?

And lastly - I'm a little confused on the graphics options for the laptop. I'm used to looking at the Dell/Asus/Sager with the 8600gt/gs. Which Quadro (or whatever) is equal to those cards?

    Thanks.

Usually you just buy it directly from Lenovo unless you want to go with a reseller like CDW, but in which case, the prices are more expensive.

The Quadro FX570m is equal to the 8600GT

    Thanks a bunch.

Do you know why the site is only offering the Quadro NVS 140M?

because the t61p is wayyyy backordered so they took it off so they don't get any more orders. i'd expect the t61p to be back on the site mid-september.

welcome to the club, I've been waiting since May.

If I were you I'd not expect any kind of delivery of a T61P until the end of '07 at the earliest.

If you are absolutely desperate and determined to have one your best bet is to find a reseller who has one in stock. Ordering from Lenovo will surely drive you bats with the lies, excuses and poor customer service you will receive.

If I'd known in May that I'd have to go thru this nightmare (this is easily the worst experience I've had with computers in the last 20 years and thousands of orders) I'd have scratched the T61p off the list and gone with something else.

I forget which model number, but several users (who are fed up with Lenovo and canceled their T61P orders) have compared the T61P with one of the HP models (which are in stock.)

I had to go buy another machine, just couldn't be without any longer. I went into another category (ultralite) and got the Sony SZ650. It doesn't have the graphics power, but seems to do what I need...and it's in stock too - I had it within 4 days of Sony announcing it.

quadro's are higher then gts actually its more for image and video production not really gaming but any game in the past you can play on or almost close to max settings. im not to sure on future games how this card will handle.its suppose to be able to play ut08 at max settings also so we'll see how this turns out

Monster, I'm pretty sure everyone in the Lenovo forums has heard about your displeasure with Lenovo. Please stop posting in every forum that Lenovo is a bad company just because you and a few others have had bad experiences. People have also had good service from Lenovo.
While we appreciate that you are trying to warn people, try to stay on the topic of the OP, and if you are going to bash on Lenovo, just don't. A simple
"don't expect it to be shipped till later" will do. Just my opinions anyway

Hey 'Loser, this user asked a specific question about a topic I just happen to have the answer to.

The answer is truthful and directly on point and specific to the question he asked.

In my case, Lenovo knows what they need to do to make it right, but they choose not to do so.
Based on the poll, it's not a 'few' it's closer to 40% have had problems and are at least dissatisfied with Lenovo's CS and/or the hardware.
If I can save just one user from the misery they have put me thru, then my efforts have been worth it.

If you don't want to read it, then don't.
But don't pretend that the elephant isn't in the kitchen when the table is smashed under it's butt and it's tusks are thru the 'Fridge.

basically he said you shouldn't ignore something when it's right there in front of you

true...but nonetheless, no need to go on a lenovo bashing rampage.

    Where did my post go?

Anyways, if you really want the laptop, you'd wait.

Because it IS worth the wait (disregard the fact that I got my T61p nine days after ordering, I was fine with the ESD in September.)

    haha...lucky you :p
there are other laptops out there that work just as fine as the t61p like the ASUS V1s, but it's a bit pricier without the discounts (but it looks better too) and the performance is about the same.

Maybe I'll just stick with the V2s. It shouldn't have a horrifically long waiting period like many of the others.

no it won't...in fact the v1s are already out
i suspect the v2s should be out shortly as well.
