I'm still waiting for a response from lenovo, but I ordered a new t61p for work w/ 4 gigs of ram and the vista ultimate operating system. I assumed this was the 64 bit edition but in looking at the bill of sale it appears it will be the 32 bit version. I'm new to vista and the retail vs oem versions of it. I've read the license for vista works on both versions (x86 vs 64 bit), will i be able to order/dl a 64 bit version of ultimate to work with my key, or because its an oem version will i need media from lenovo? Curious what my best course is.

hey to my knowledge on operating systems. i am sure when i say that if the bill of sales states that it is 32bit. it is going to be 32bit. and form my experience from windows xp. you cant use a 32bit product key in a 64bit OS. so call them up and try to change your order. i have a vista ulimate OEM and trust me it is 32bit.
and it works fine. but your going to need the 64bit because of the memory -
I am in similar boat. I called Lenovo. Only 64-bit OS supported by Lenovo is Vista Business. I had raised a similar thread earlier this week and I was told it was legal to download and use the OEM key.
