It's the link from the education, Lenovo will let you config the T61 with WSXGA screen and the Quadro FX 256 MB.. !!!and the price for a T7700 with 4 Gb Ram is very cheap too, compare to the one on the main site...
I'm surprise why they didn't do it on the T61p, apparently that T61 in the link above is the T61p, but it won't show that way..
You can also buy a Z series which has been discontinued...But it's still there for the Education.

-
I get blank screen with link
-
Link still works..
Maybe you can try go to Lenovo.com >Education > under higher education choose your state > products (the one on the upper left corner) > thinkpad notebook...
There you can config the T61 with 15.4'' -
Not the T61 p
-
Confirmed through CA Education site. Expect to see this funnel down to the consumer site soon, hopefully when the T61p comes back.
-
yes I know, Read my first post !!!
-
Did you see the price is surprisingly cheap too
-
hi guys, im getting a blank screen too.
-
you can try this one
http://shoprel.i2.com/SEUILibrary/c...vrGhobGQEAIN6PcjQAAAA%3D&ts=1187744042343
Choose any T61 with 15.4'' and you will see the config
-
These links do not work. They say "session has expired"
-
Blank screen. I went to education, chose my state (chose a few) then I got to the product screen. No list for notebooks and desktops.
-
it works on my computer, I don't know what's wrong
Sorry for all that, you guys can go to lenovo.com > education > under higher education choose your state > products (The one on the left upper corner) > thinkpad notebook > choose the T series or anything you want. -
I did that: "lenovo.com > education > under higher education choose your state." No notebook in product list.
-
under higher education choose your state > Products on the upper left corner > thinkpad notebooks
-
Yea, it works.
Thanks. -
If your session has expired...delete your cookies.

Hanbaoquan,
What state are you selecting for the notebook choices to show up? I selected MA and there are only T60 models available.. -
I chose CA but any states don't matter.Remember to choose the Products on the upper left corner.
That website is directlenovo.com, which is different from the consumer website. and sometime it gets some problem with the database so if you experienced it, come back a few hours later -
State matters alot actually. California gets good prices/selection, most others get horrible prices/selection.
-
I just get "An invalid customer ID has been passed. Please clear your cookies and try again."
-
Did you try clearing your cookies and trying again?
-
I did. Also tried IE.
-
You're not using the link, are you? Just go to Lenovo's website, select Education, select higher education, select California, hit the Products button in the upper left hand corner and select Thinkpad Notebooks.
-
Ah, California works. I was trying to use my own state (PA).
-
anybody considering replacing an order through this?
-
I don't think so, as you would need to work for an institution in that state that had a contract agreement with Lenovo.
-
yup, looks like we're out of luck unless you go to college/grad in cali
-
And your university happens to have a contract agreement with Lenovo that they'll let you use.
-
Can somebody help me understand the different kinds of wireless n options available for this configuration...? I'm a lil confused.
-
Yes, I didn't look at all the states, thanks for your correction.
AZ works just like CA, try some other states too, I'm sure of them will work just like CA. -
Yeah, but that still doesn't change the fact that you need a contract agreement.
-
I know, What I meant is people in some other states also have a chance, not only CA.
-
Are you guys sure your school needs a contract agreement? I was under the impression that(and I could be wrong) you simply needed to be enrolled in a college/uni in that state... Am I a retard?
-
Yes, you do need to have a contract agreement with Lenovo. But I suppose it's worth a shot.
-
Well, in order to physically check out you need a higher education account. I don't know how you get one, but you could always call them and try, or try to create an account from that page and see where it gets you.
-
You need to use your email address from a university (in the same state of course) when you create your account.
In California, I have found that at least UCLA works. I assume other University of California schools like Berkeley, Davis, or San Diego will work as well.
The notebooks on the Education website are a lot cheaper than at the SPP or the regular Lenovo site. Extra warranty at no additional cost! Higher education does pay afterall!
I will have to use that Education website again in a few years for my next notebook!
-
My university isn't on the list... bastards...
-
How did you find out that it is not on the list?
-
When a school has a contract deal with Lenovo I'm pretty sure its advertised. Maybe I'm wrong though and any student with a school email address can buy one of these? I've found links from other schools that lead to a lenovo page with Laptops listed. ttp://www.Lenovo.com/shop/deals/usstudents usually looks something like that. I've searched my school for mentions of Lenovo/IBM when I was trying to get a deal on a T61, but could find no links.
I'd try this way with my school email but the PA portal is not working for some reason and thats where my school is (Philadelphia). -
$1080.80?
*drool* -
Mind you that's the lowest configuration though. I only changed the screen and GPU. You could still downgrade Vista to basic and opt out of the 3 year warranty to save another $140.
Lenovo does check for a lease agreement though. I just got an e-mail from a sales rep asking for this information even though I just made a price quote I made using the recent NAR 15% discount.
I'll try making a quote from the education site and see if someone bugs me for info. -
These prices are really low, do you think I'll be able to buy from here?
-
As long as you are attending a university that has a contract with Lenovo in one of the states...Yes you can buy one
-
How do you know that my university has a contract with Lenovo?
-
We don't know if yours does or not, you'll have to ask your university.
-
this is cool. but if we select the wuxga screen will we suffer the "wait" of eternity?
-
Lets be fair, I don't think odin243 works for IBM (I could be wrong) so I doubt if he could answer on the "wait" question. but unless universites get parental treatment, I would guess you would be placed on the wait list.
-
No, I don't work for Lenovo or IBM. I'm just repeating information found either on Lenovo's website, or that's been parroted to me by their CS reps. I don't know about the wait question, however considering that Lenovo claimed that backordering on the LCD panels was the main reason for the T61p being removed from the website, I'd guess that you'd be in for the same wait as everybody else.
T61p with Quadro FX 570m (256MB) and WSXGA !!!
