Owners of the T61p with WUXGA, how is your screen? Is it nearly as good as flexview? I would be compromising portability over the 14.1" to get this, is it really worth it? I take my laptop with me everywhere I go and would prefer a 14.1" screen, unless this screen is reaaaaaaaaaally sweet! :D

Haha, blasphemy... you are either joking or haven't seen a WUXGA screen before...

First, these screens aren't great in general, and second, there are only Samsung screens at the moment...

So, you can expect either a craptacular (search around) or mediocre-at-best screen.

Btw, HP 8510w and Dell Latitude D830 have the same Samsung screen, so you can check out the reviews.

I just got new Thinkpad. I am having some issues unrelated to the screen. The screen it self is really good, and I do mean good. The collor is really nice. The illumination is constant. It is a bit deamer then my old MacBook pro, but in the day light the screen is better the one of the mac book pro.

The ressolution wise, the screen is was one of the sale points for me. I am working for an IT departmet of New School Univerity, we use the HP counterpart with WUXGA screens as our Mobile Classroom Units. I really liked the screen on these models. It almost feels like both Lenovo and HP are made on the same factory, or at least parts of the case are made.

Anyhow, I do like the screen.

The uxga is OK - I still like it better than other lenovo screens I have seen. All WUXGA are Samsung now, including Dell and HP - somewhat dim (probably a battery-drain issue with the high res), but extremely sharp, and readable even by my sorry eyes at native resolution.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe my WUXGA is an LG display.

    I love it.

It is a little dimmer than other displays, but when plugged in it's just as good.

There is no 15.4" WUXGA Macbook Pro. It is an option for 17": http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs.html. dimonay - what is the FRU of your screen? They did use an LG WUXGA on the T60P, but supposedly not available on the T61p.

Also quoted for truth. I'm looking at a WUXGA Samsung screen with an inch of backlight bleed along the entire bottom of the screen :( My brother says he's used to it now but it drives me nuts!

I have the Samsung WUXGA screen in the T61p I got a few days ago.

Major backlight bleed from the bottom, poor top to bottom viewing angle, and mine seems to have some kind of "graininess"... as in if I'm looking at small text (which is always the case at such a high resolution) I can see it flickering/waving... really bugs me.

I'm wondering if I could get it replaced under warranty because it really bugs me. I'm getting a little more used to it though the more I use this laptop. I'm not liking the keyboard much either but that's less of a hassle.

I'm very disappointed with this ThinkPad... maybe because I heard they were supposed to be so good. I really liked my Asus M6N except that it started falling apart after a few years...

Hopefully the roll-bar and the ThinkPad light make up for the poor LCD screen and keyboard.

How can one tell? Looking at properties in the device manager (under XP)
    only shows Lenovo as manufacturer.

Go here to find out the manufacturer of your system parts: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/s...=/partslookup/partsLookup.vm&sitestyle=lenovo

The numbers you need are in your email in the electronic receipt invoice.

EDIT: Oops, I was in the middle of writing mine when Dreamer took care of it. Thanks. To further emphasize his solution, the numbers you need are also on the bottom of your Thinkpad.

I found out my graininess or noise in the display were from installing the latest nVidia drivers instead of the ones from Lenovo, I installed the drivers from Lenovo's website and now it's fixed. Still bad viewing angle and light leakage though, but no dead pixels.

Now I just have to figure out if it is normal to have 3 displays show up in Device Manager...
