    Hello,

Does anyone know if the NVIDIA 570M video card on my T61p supports TV-out through the VGA port? I'm trying to connect it to my receiver and I was wondering if I could do it with a simple VGA to RCA (or VGA-component) cable.

    Thanks in advance,

    jaytorr

i'm sure it can... if u have a vga - component converter i suggest u get that cos the quality is loads better!

after that u'll have to open display adapter properties and change ur monitor from ur laptop to the tv...

Thanks. Just to clarify, do you mean I must use a converter, or will a cable like this one work?

My understanding is that the cable will work as long the video card outputs a composite signal through the VGA port.

However, I wasn't able to determine if the 570M could do this.

    Thanks again.

    This depends on your TV/Projector.

A VGA to Component adapter cable will provide RGB (not YPbPr). Very few displays support this format.

You most likely need an active converter (expensive and degrades quality) to hook up your ThinkPad to your TV unless your TV has a VGA input on it.
