I'm interested in buying a thinkpad, but I'm unsure if I should wait for the next T series or just buy now.
Casual gaming. Looking to play WoW at pretty high settings. The rest of my use will just be for school work. I could get a budget model to handle this, but I don't mind paying extra for quality.

just wait, its right around the corner..
If you bought it now you may get buyer's remorse when EVERYONE will only talk about montevina this and montevina that.. besides its not like its months away, maybe 2-3 weeks most.. -
What's the expected cost on these new T series?
-
um probably about 1200-1300 depends on the processor you choose, LED backlight, discrete video card
-
it'll be around $1500-$2000 depending on how you configure it from what I read. LED screen and DDR3 ram is making it expensive.
the new T series will use 25% less power but you won't get major performance increases, in my opinion they won't be worth it until they go on sale.
oh but the equivalent of T61p will be the W series(W500 i believe), so it'll be even more expensive. -
Wait new T series? I just got mine like 7 months ago!!!
Its a T61 14.1 inch widescreen
-
It just makes me wonder if I really need the W500. The price of the T61p right now is great for what you get. For just playing World of Warcraft and casual school work, I'd lean towards saying I probably don't need the W500.

It's a tough decision with some time running out, that's for sure.

I pulled the trigger on a load T61p yesterday. The 3 to 4 hours battery life is fine for my needs and I was able to get a killer discount through American Express. The T9300 processor is practically top of the line, DDR2 memory is cheaper, and I won't be playing games.
If I tote the notebook somewhere, I will always have an outlet, so battery life in standby is more important to me anyway! -
good luck ! hope you enjoy your T61p - I certainly did! Anyhow, care to expand on the American Express discount ?? Thanks...
T61p, wait or buy?
