    Howdy all,

    I'm running a T61p w/ 175.70 drivers. Modest OC'ing with RivaTuner.
While I was draining my battery [to set and keep it at the 36%-40% level] I decided to play some WoW. Right from the opening screen it suffered immense studdering.

Is this normal? Is there some NVIDIA setting that underclocks the GPU? If so, is there a way I can set up my laptop to run at max strength during times of battery use?

[In the NVIDIA control panel Powermizer is disabled, Extend battery charge is unchecked, smart dimmer is off]

When the gpu runs on just a battery the gpu downclocks so it will make games run more slowly causing some lag. Always plug in your laptop while gaming! That way the gpu wont downclock.

Yea I figured as much :(, so there's no way to override this? Seems like if a user wants to sacrifice battery life for power he/she should be able to...

Check the powermizer plan. You should be able to set max performance when on battery.

    How do I do that?

In my NVIDIA Control Panel, under Moble-> Change PowerMizer settings; I only have the option to optimize or not to optimize, and a seperate check box to Extend battery charge usng less power for display.

I suppose it could be the particular nvidia drivers I am using at the moment.

Do a Regedit search for "PerfLevelSrc", and change its value to 3322. The change should take effect after a reboot and you should be able to game on battery now. Alternatively, if that doesn't help try changing the above mentioned key to 2222. That should do it if nothing else, although that will *completely* disable anything related to PowerMizer or GPU powersaving/idle downclocking which will dramatically reduce battery life even when idle on the desktop.

    Hope this helps. :)
