On the Lenovo website, the main page for the T-Series shows the T61p is available with up to the 256MB NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M discrete graphics option. It was actually the only graphics choice for the T61p for the last few months on the website.
Now, the default and ONLY choice listed is the 128MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M. What gives? What reason would there be to choose a T61p over a T61 now?

Yes, I have the same question..why did they make this change?
-
I am not sure...guess we will have to wait and see.

Bummer...the T61p was one of the finalists in my personal "What laptop should I get" quest. Tim's right, though, we should wait and see what happens. That being said, I don't really believe they'll undercut their top model by making it more or less functionally equivalent to what is usually perceived as a "lower-spec" model.

I'm hoping for better changes, they may as well update the CPUs.
Or it could be that they're having supplies problems. -

Interesting. The FX580 256MB was the main reason I went with the T61p two weeks ago.
Now I feel fortunate to have gotten one of the last ones!
But, I participated in a few very active threads on this forum and another one that came down to a major defect associated with the GPU and the Motherboard. Many T61p units could not handle intensive 3D gaming and would freeze or crash. I would bet this is the reason Lenovo has pulled back on the graphics capability. -
It's not the last one, it will come back again. There is no sign of new GPU, so it maybe the supplies issue, as Lenovo put "call" on the product website.
As to your comments, I didn't see those threads, some of the Thinkpad T61p owners here are able to play games such as COD4 with decent settings. -
The issue has now been resolved for the US Lenovo website. The T61p comes with the Quadro FX 570M, but still has the "Selecting this option may delay your shipment more than 4 weeks." disclaimer at the moment. However, it appears that every T and R series ThinkPad on the US site has that disclaimer for the systems graphics radio button.

Yeah guess it was just temporary. That is good.

maybe they just run out quadro 570M for a while.
T61p- only available with NVS Quadro 140M now?
