    The T7500 is a 2.2Ghz Merom w/4mb L2 cache.
    The T8300 is a 2.4Ghz Penryn w/3mb L2 cache.

Penryn is the successor to Merom. Although the T8300 has 1mb less of cache, it makes little difference. The T8300 is superior.

Well with the T8300 you get an extra 200mhz and its 45nm so its easier on battery and possibly heat.

The T8300 uses less battery and the 200Mhz gives more of a speed advantage than the 1MB L2 cache. Go for the T8300.

Yup, T8300 is better due to being cooler and less power used. But, I could not feel any difference in performance between the 2.

    Thanks a lot!

    Maybe could u help me also with another struggle i have;

i want to buy a ThinkPad T61 14.1" widescreen, and the cheapest one (that i can afford to) available is the one with "with integrated graphics and Linux" that has this CPU options:

    Intel Core? 2 Duo processor T7250 (2.0GHz 800MHz 2MBL2)

    Intel Core? 2 Duo processor T7500 (2.2GHz 800MHz 4MBL2) [add $106.25 $37.50]

    Intel Core? 2 Duo processor T7700 (2.4GHz 800MHz 4MBL2) [add $206.25 $112.50]

    Intel Core? 2 Duo processor T7800 (2.6GHz 800MHz 4MBL2) [add $496.25 $330.00]

    ------

What would u recommend? is it better to take another model that offers T8300? u wrote that it uses less heat, and for the laptop to be cool on the laps is a very important feature for me. but there is no model with T8300 that has Linux, and i don't need buy vista because i already have one. so:

    1. how much (more or less) do u think does the vista raising the prise of the laptop? i if it's not a big difference I'll take the T8300 with vista.

    2. will the integrated graphic card that comes with the Linux model, run perfectly OK with aero in vista?

I think AERO is some type of grahical enhancement that is added with the VISTA OS.

I am not familiar with Linux but I am intrested in it. As long as it works is all that matters to me.

I've been using Windows on all my machines for years.

If you want to learn about Linux, this is a great site: http://www.tv.robbief.com/

The guy actually holds vidoes every 7pm EST on Tuesdays.

sam1441, if they integrated graphics card is the Intel X3100, then it can handle Aero fine.

What do you plan to do with your computer?
