Which one would you guys take on T400 ?

    1. T9600 (2.8GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2) ---($90CAD cheaper than P9500)
    2. P9500 (2.53GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2)

-WXGA+ LED vs. WXGA HN(High Nit) LED ?

    -Vista 32 vs. 64 ?

2 - If price not an issue, go for the P9500 - has 25W versus 35W max TDP "Thermal Design Power). Difference in price reflects the price set by Intel. Other than insignificant difference in top clock speed, there is very little difference in most situations ...and so many other components will impact much more on performance and thermal environment (like choice of storage - SSD/HDD; use of integrated or dedicated gpu). In normal computing of course, the cpu TDP upper heat levels will not be reached, and the difference between T and P series will be zero. If $90CAD matters, go for the T9600. You probably wouldn't notice any difference.

i would also take the P series because it will run cooler. 10W is a great deal of power.

    Thanks guys.
    How about P8700 vs. P9500 ?
Is paying $190CAD more for P9500 worth it ?

I believe you mean WXGA w/ LED, there's no WXGA+ LED offered at the moment for T400.

I've never used a HN, but from what others have said, its great for outdoor use, but you'll certainly lower it when indoors. LED is way more than sufficient for indoor use.

Go with the P8700, it would save you $100 from even the cheaper T9600. T series and P series aren't that different in reality, on battery, you never see a 10W difference b/c users don't stress their CPU 100%. CPU speed and cache size makes little difference especially if you're only doing basic multitasking such as music, browsing, word, excel, etc.

WXGA+ LED option is back online, go for that. And 64-bit OS.
